And my favorite bastard! He’s been on my mind lately.
Getting to work on Brermon’s redesign. I’m happy with where he’s going. @ran-orimoto gave me the idea to make him punk and man that is the best direction the pretty rabbit man could go in.
He (at least in pretty boy form) is supposed to be an oddball. His look is overtly contemporary, he’s the second thinnest warrior (Atropamon has him beat), and his emblem is less prominent than the others. Bremon looks more like your rock star crash than a fighter. Unfortunately, he’s the rock star who teaches you what “never meet your heroes” means.
He’s the pinnacle of coolness to the kids (at the start anyway), but if this were a stand alone story without them involved (like just the warriors independent of their hosts), the other spirits would think he’s annoying. He’s a good looking guy, but they can’t deal with what’s essentially a permanent college kid.
(I subscribe to the bully-kids-were-the-corrupted-warriors theory. His host kid is the oldest of them all, being a couple of months shy of 13. This ain’t really relevant to nothing. I just think giving the oldest kid the youngest spirit is funny).
Canopicmon Level: Rookie/Child Type: Ghost/Mineral Attribute: Data Field: Nightmare Soldiers/Dark Area
A digimon born from a soul inhabiting an earthen vessel. It never leaves the confines of the vessel, only extending a shadowy arm from the crack to interact with the world around it. The eyes of the lid emit an eerie glow, unsettling any who meet it’s gaze.
When in danger it lashes out with the strips of cloth that snake out from under it’s rim, binding enemies and crushing the life from them (That’s a Wrap). At its most fearsome, a torrent of shadowy energy spills from the crack in the vessel, consuming everything it touches (Curse of Rupture).
Possible In-training: Goromon, Nyaromon, Onibimon, Pagumon Possible Champion: Baboongamon, Nefertimon, Shademon, Dobermon
Another set of Armor Digivolutions I designed for the cast of Digimon Liberator. Part 1
Sunarizamon with the Digimental of Light becomes Meretsmon. It guards ruins from the ancient Digital Word lost deep in the desert. Its body is made of sand, allowing it to replace any wounded parts as long as it has access to sand.
Shoemon with the Digimental of Kindness becomes Velveteenmon. Though its body is soft and delicate, it has the heart of a knight and seeks to protect the innocent. Through training and making friends, it seeks to transform its soft body into one worthy of the title of knight.
Sangomon with the Digimental of Knowledge becomes Libiniamon. It wears a mechanical exosuit designed for deep-sea exploration and scientific study. Growing from its back are coral stalks covered with sticky polyps. Libiniamon gathers materials that catch its interest and stores them in the coral for later examination.
Impmon with the Digimental of Sincerity/Purity becomes Goemon. It is a notorious thief that steals from wealthy and powerful Digimon and gives its ill-gotten gains to the unfortunate and poor. However, when asked, it will admit it’s escapades are mostly for its own personal enjoyment, not done out of altruism.
I gave Close the Digimental of Light because there are a lot of parallels between her and (Hi)kari. They’re both the younger sister of a prominent character, both prove instrumental in beating a major villain, and both of their partners have an anceint Egypt themed evolution. Meretsmon is named after Meretseger, an Egyptian goddess who protected the Valley of the Kings and was depicted as having a cobra’s head.
I gave Arisa Kindness because she is pretty nice and helps a lot of other characters like Shoto and Violet through encouragement. Velveteenmon is based on the story of the Velveteen Rabbit. In the story, a toy rabbit wanted to become real and Velveteenmon wants to become a knight. I kept the original shoe of Shoemon and turned Shoemon’s needle into a sword. I also made sure to keep the plush patchwork nature of the Shoemon line that I really like.
I gave Yao Knowledge beucase she’s smart enough to be a lead developer and very curious about Digimon. Libiniamon is based on decorator crabs. These are crabs (mostly spider crabs) that are known to decorate themselves with both inanimate objects and living things like spondes and anemones to protect themselves like predators. Corals and anemones are both cnidarians and the bug theme of the Digimental of Knowledge translated well into a crab.
I gave Yuuki Sincerity/Purity because she’s the kind of person who always speaks her mind and wants to get along with everybody. Goemon is based on Ishikawa Goemon, a Japanese folk hero. He was a bandit who became the subject of plays and stories who depicted him as a Robin Hood-style thief. The bandanna tied around Goemon’s nose and the sack it carries are based on comedic depictions of burglars in Japanese media.
I keep meaning to do a sheet like this for Atropamon. Would probably help since I’m drawing her comic. Anyweasel,
Warrior of Prosperity (Been jumping between luck, fortune, and prosperity for her element. Prosperity sounds coolest lol). Clementine’s spirit evolution. Cross between Wonder Woman, a pro wrestler, and a fashionista. She’s a Watusi cow specifically because I wanted to put in a nod to Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain. One of the first picture books anyone ever read to me as a kid. The one thing I do want to change about her design is the bridal inspiration. It bugs me. See, I based part of her look partially off of Maasai brides, but Kapiti plain is a Nandi story. I mean she’s already vaguely based on general luck concepts, but if someone made an OC based on a Bajan story and gave the char a Jamaican accent I wouldn’t feel too good. Gonna go back to the drawing board with her. Thinking instead of lucky bride I lean into Clem’s fashionista trait. How hard can it be to find a pdf of a Kenyan fashion magazine from 2002 in the year 2026 (I hate modern internet all I’ve seen so far are tiktoks and AI bullshit)
Anyway
ALT
Costuming aside, Watusimon gives attack and defense boosts to the team. She’s got attacks of her own and is capable in battle, but she’s the spirit you want on your side. Between her horns is a giant coin. I call it a pocketbook dimension lololol. She can reach into it and pull out one of three different sets of dual functioning weapons. Watusimon really lives up to her Warrior of Prosperity title.
The first is a stack of coins on a string. She uses that as a meteor hammer. Thinking it can also be pulled to form a larger shield.
ALT
She’s got a giant coin that changes in size. Sometimes she tosses like a discus (think Sailor Moon), sometimes she uses it as a giant shield that forms a force field dome thing (kinda Steven Universey)
ALT
The Silvers are my favorite. No defensive use. They either explode on their own or can be given to teammates. If the latter happens, their properties change to fit the other warriors’ elements. They’re given a brand new (temporary) move.
Watusimon has no control over which weapon she draws at what time. She only has control over how she uses it in the moment. A pain in the butt at first, but the pocketbook dimension always gives her what she needs.
His design isn’t set in stone, he’s do for a redesign, but I like him as a concept
I could never shake the idea of the Ten Legendary Warriors being a pantheon of sorts. Thought this since I was like what? 11? 12? My earliest Frontier OC was Pelemon back in 2007 or ‘08 or something. I don’t do direct references to gods and goddesses anymore. Not my faith, not my background. There’s a lot to get wrong. I like nebulous, general nods to concepts of common god themes. There’s a very partial exception I’ll get to in a bit.
To balance out the additional good guys I wanted some corrupted warriors. At the time, Clem had the spirit of luck and Juniper had that of misfortune. The bad guys were supposed to be medicine and a general trickster goddess.
ALT
Evil medicine warrior never got off the ground. Luck and misfortune felt too much like mirror images of Kouji and Kouichi’s light and dark. The girls needed more distance from each other and from the Minamoto twins. Medicine (renamed health) went to Juniper, misfortune was eliminated as an element, and the evil warriors became one childlike terraforming trickster bunny.
ALT
So I fucking love Anansi. Grew up on Anansi stories. My family grew up on Anansi stories. Sometimes he’s an idiot, sometimes he’s a genius. Sometimes I want his cunning. Sometimes I’m glad I’m not that stupid. Any trickster god I made had to be a nod to Anansi. Since Brer Rabbit is his American counter part, a bunny spider seemed like an easy design.
IT WAS NOT
Had the idea in my head. Cute little girl younger than Tommy sees this as a giant game. She gets her powers, is kind of bratty. Perfect.
Design kept falling between cute generic furry and uncanny rejected humanoid 'mon.
But the idea of a flirty bi bishounen Digimon Warrior whose human counterpart was around the same age as the cast kept going through my mind
And Brermon as a Digimon name made me laugh (Brermon…Brother Man…Genius)
ALT
Rough early drafts of Brermon as a concept. He was supposed to have a stretchy tar like body since tar/ sap play a significant roll in both an Anansi and Brer rabbit tale. His real special attack is love bombing
This set is 6 months old
A month later I’d try to further pin down his design
ALT
Gave him buggier attributes. I’ve never been prouder of color symbolism in my damn life. Tried to give him an exact “element” for him as the trickster. Settled on confusion
ALT
I tried to make the tar thing work for a while before ditching it. He also lost his terraforming abilities, too. He’s a shapeshifter now, to go with the air of confusion. The pretty boy form is a move in and of itself, like glamor magic that’s supposed to be used temporarily. Brermon hates what he looks like without it, and the constant use of the move leaves him too exhausted to use anything that would hit heavy. He’s the magical equivalent of a plastic surgery addict.
Brermon finds fault of everyone, and enjoys putting others on a pedestal just to knock them down and break their trust. Make you feel like the most loved person in the world just to rip your heart out and step on it. It’s easiest to fight someone who doesn’t have the will to fight back.
My to do list includes drawing his “unpretty” form (it ain’t ugly. Just confusing to look at
Brermon was supposed to only get along with Ranamon. They’re great friends (their interactions are on my to do list). They encourage the worst aspects of each other, go out to lunch after meetings, and think of themselves as the prettiest members of the team.
Brermon and Mercuremon, however…
They’re closer before Brermon starts using the glamor move constantly, back when Brermon is strong and actually doing work. Guy’s a heavy hitter. He’s competent and used to listen to Mercuremon without hesitation or question. Didn’t give him any lip. Now with this whole pretty boy look Brermon’s too tired to move. He’d rather be thought of as lazy and uncaring, a guy whp is too cool to be bothered with this warrior shit to give a damn, but Mercuremon knows that ol’ boy is suffering from fatigue something awful. Mercuremon cares, but his concern comes off as scoldings and disappointment. Brermon knows Mercuremon is right and resents him for it. Mercuremon knows Brermon will crash and burn at this rate, but has a very “Fine. If you wanna act the fool…!” way of looking at things. By the time anyone realizes they were a thing they’ve already fizzled out.
Searchmon, a Rookie digimon of the data attribute related to the Biyomon species. It is fiercely dedicated to tracking down wrongdoers and troublemakers with a undeniably justified heart, but it occasionally finds itself in trouble with other Digimon as it will happily break others rules to find information when it decides on a target. It takes great pride in it’s ‘Deerstalker’ cape, and uses it to store both evidence and weapons for use in its investigations.
Trickmon, a Rookie digimon of the virus attribute with a relation to the Impmon species. It appears to be composed entirely of fabric, making it a true puppet digimon. It spends it’s time honing the ultimate magic tricks, and from this Trickmon has developed the ‘Arsene Deck’, a set of cards with mysterious effects that it uses to prank other Digimon. Despite its love of causing trouble, it hates to see harm come to its targets and readily turns against anything that interferes with its 'Magic Shows’ with a short temper to ensure the audience’s safety.
BanchoFairimon is unusual among the usually fiercely independent BAN-TYO Digimon for being a social butterfly who hangs out with a group of like-minded Digimon, swapping gossip and fighting together. It follows no laws other than its own desires for fun, but it has a sense of justice that sees it protecting the weak and hating bullies. It is a prankster who is good at slipping away before consequences come to it, but when it is caught, the defensive properties of its GAKU-RAN help it get away. Its special move is unleashing a flurry of violence including punches, kicks, and attacks with its steel pipe that somehow looks cute. It always ends this move by taking a selfie atop the target’s defeated body (Kawaii Katastrophe). It can also generate wind from its hands and hurl a tornado of razor-sharp wind gusts that picks up and shreds its target (Yankee Typhoon).
BanchoFairimon is based on Japanese delinquents, as are the rest of the Banchos. I also based her off of kogal fashion, which includes things like artificial tans, short skirts, and leg warmers or loose socks, all of which I included in the design. I put the leg warmers over her boots because it amused me. Yankee is often used in Japan to refer to delinquents. I included a reference to kawaii culture because it started out as a form of rebellion among Japanese girls and therefore fiths a Bancho.
This is the second Bancho I designed, but I didn’t post the first one ( a Bancho version of Darcmon) because I royally screwed up the proportions and didn’t realize it until it was too late to go back and fix things. I’m gonna redraw that one eventually, maybe after my current project.
Kalia: Alright, I just found these weird ruins in the digiworld. It looks like a broken down train station in the middle of a hot desert. There is a forest nearby, but the forest is all dead. Me and Infindramon are going to investigate. I will keep you all updated.
Day 3 of exploring:
Kalia: These ruins are weird. There is digitext here I don’t recognize, but it also looks like someone has been here recently. I can’t tell if the heat is from the desert or from a fire nearby. Me and Infindramon are going to check it out.
Day 4 of exploring:
Kalia: There isnt really anything here other than broken parts of the ruins, ancient digitext, and the symbol of fire. Strangely enough, there isn’t any digimon here, but it feels like we are being watched…
Day 5 of exploring, in the morning:
Kalia: Something feels off here….like me and Infindramon are being watched. The ruins have ended, but we are staying for abit because something feels off. It also feels hotter here for some reason…
Day 5 of exploring, in the evening:
Voice to text: SHIT THAT IS SO MUCH FIRE! RUN INFINDRAMON, RUN!
*sounds of crashing, fire, and attacks*
Infindramon: WHY THE FUCK DID WE COME HERE AGAIN, KALIA?!
KALIA: BECAUSE WR GOT PAID TO EXPLORE IT! I DIDN’T THINK THIS PLACE COULD BE-
Not everything is Canon considering OCSN is basically the multiverse and everyone is interacting with everyone. The people I’ve roleplayed with on there are fun and it’s great.
Yes, I am trying to tell a story and I know what I want to do. It will just take me awhile since I am busy with life
I designed some evolutions for Airdramon. Previous digifakes linked at the bottom
MegaAirdramon. Level: Perfect/Ultimate. Attribute: Vaccine. Type: Mythical Beast. Field: Dragon’s Roar, Nature Spirits, Wind Guardians. It spends its entire life in the air and never comes down to the ground. It is an extremely skilled flier, able to move at extremely high speeds and perform complex acrobatic maneuvers. As it flies, static electricity accumulates in its feathers, which it uses to power its attacks. It is as wild and unruly as a storm and accepts no master. Its special moves are spitting a lightning bolt at its target (Thunder Breath) and flying around the foe, unleashing a tornado of razor-sharp wind blades that slice up the enemy (Huracán). It can also crush the foe in its coils while shocking them with electricity (Grasp of the Storm)
TempestAirdramon. Level: Ultimate/Mega. Attribute: Vaccine. Type: Mythical Beast. Field: Dragon’s Roar, Nature Spirits, Wind Guardians. Its wings and tail feathers all unleash different weather abilities that follow it as it flies around the Digital World. The first pair of wings bring heat, priming the atmosphere for storms. The second pair of wings brings torrential rain, dousing the land below. The third pair of wings brings lightning, turning the rain into a deadly thunderstorm. Finally, the tail feathers bring wind, which sweeps the storm away. TempestAirdramon is sometimes called the Serpent God of Weather and it is said to have been born from the data of feathered serpent gods in old religions. Its special moves are unleashing a colossal tornado on its foes (Serpent Storm) and coiling around its foes with its massive body and constricting them while striking them with thunderbolts (Coils of Kukulkan). It can also spit lightning from its mouth with the force to vitrify anything it hits (Wrath of the Serpent God).
These Digimon are inspired by the Mesoamerican feathered serpent god motif found in multiple cultures. In particular, I drew from carvings of the Mayan Kukulkan found at Chichen Itza. These evolutions plus the Earthdramon line I made in my last post are intended to be counterparts to Seadramon and its evolutions. That way there’s a serpentine dragon for land, sea, and sky.
