watching debbiedale post jasmine/cain affair reveal and there’s so many layers to this shit. first of all how basically the entire village refuses to acknowledge that debbie and jasmine were in a relationship, despite this being common knowledge and debbie in particular being explicit about it. And yet every time anyone talks about cain’s betrayal, it’s the fact that he slept with her “best friend” rather than what it was - jasmine cheating on debbie with cain (don’t get me wrong, obviously I have sympathy for the age gap and how manipulative cain is, but it also is what it is). It just completely downplays the betrayal happening, both on cain’s part and jasmine’s. And then there’s Jasmine, where you don’t really know what she’s feeling because she seems so conflicted about everything, one minute enjoying her relationship with cain and then worrying about how it would hurt debbie when jasmine was the one who was clearly smitten with debbie in the first place. I think it’s really interesting that the writers decided she would experiment with cain of all people, because it makes her more of a villain to debbie (because duh) but then to the audience I think it makes her more sympathetic, because it’s clear cain is taking advantage of her naiveté and youth. If it had just been some random college student no one would have really been on jasmine’s side. and out of all of this, I’ve realized that aaron is the 2010’s debbie of the dales. queer, life sucks so much, bad things happening constantly. only difference is sometimes aaron deserved it and debbie has not done a single thing wrong ever.

hi! ive been planning to make a complete d/j playlist when i finish their storyline but until then youre kind of stuck with confusing youtube playlists :’(
they have their first scenes together in 2005 i wld say watch frm july 21 onward until jasmine leaves the village (this forces u to watch through debbie/robert im so sorry…) and then she returns 6th dec for an amazingggg debbiedale segment. not sure how familiar u are with her storyline in general but this era is really centred around her relationship with sarah and the dingles trying to force teenage motherhood onto her >:( its evil. i think all of this in 2005 is worthwhile to watch as foundational for their relationship but the best of d/j (that ive seen! ive not watched their last few months together which i think is also amazing!!) is in 2006
