DSA Retro Clone: Bad Traits

Over at Gedankenpalast, they are thinking about bad traits. Bad traits have been around in DSA since DSA2. In the DSA3 core box, they were superstition, fear of heights, claustrophobia, fear of death, curiosity, greed for gold, and irascibility. The value was determined with 1D6+1, so you had somewhere between 2 and 7. Certain types of heroes required certain bad traits.

So if you wanted to be a…

I mean. Wjswjjwajjsnf im so :DDDD thag you chose to ask me this & are interested in my process but ajsjjwjw. no not really. if anything I had to search for scenes to add because I knew what I wanted to do broadly and what was necessary to establish for the arc . I don’t tend to plan my fics in advance to a detail of scene by scene unless I have a specific reason to do so because I think some of the emotion is lost in translation between a very detailed plan and actually writing them out. Now the flip side of this methodology means that my shit needs to be edited probably 3+ times before it’s actually of posting quality although sometimes I forgo this out of laziness. for me writing is very much about momentum . If anything I had to go out of my way to think of scenes to include and what they actually looked like. “ven and vanitas get closer but feel weird about it” doesn’t actually translate to a scene in and of itself.

Now I have plenty of ideas for DSA that will probably end up not being included. plenty of scenes that I intend to write that will probably just never pan out for various reasons. But I don’t currently know what those scenes are going to be, like. I don’t know which ones will get cut and which ones will get written. But currently we’re pretty solidly on track wrt what I planned. the events of ch6 were like, the entire impetus/inspiration for starting the fic at all. if anything I wish the earlier chapters had MORE to them. And I may go back and edit them to be more detailed. esp ch4 and 5, I could’ve and should’ve had like at least another 5k of those events alone. I have suuuuch a bad habit of glossing over important events that I really should write out in more detail just because I don’t want to write them. lmao

I think I briefly considered having ven literally pack a proper picnic basket with like a blanket and everything but then I decided that while the point of DSA is that vv aren’t acting like vv, I decided that was simply too far. Vv at a goddamn picnic? It does not occur . It simply does not.

If your position on the Bosnian genocide is this

You are a genocide denier and the fact that you are saying it to defend fucking Noam fucking Chomsky you should be ashamed of yourself,

It’s a very dsa view that only America can do wrong and anyone they are against must be the victim but it’s not fucking team sports, it’s why so many people are weird about Ukraine, they are fighting a defensive war against an expansionist nation,

Miloševićs Serbia isn’t a side you should be cheering on as some underdog, the intervention in the former Yugoslavia is the only good thing nato has ever done,

Fantasy map illustration for “Das Schwarze Auge” – and finally something I haven’t shown yet. Back in 2025, the adventure “Schrecken der Meere” was released, and I had the great pleasure of illustrating three ship deck maps for it. The maps show the layouts of „Die Djalarose“, „Die Schwalbe von Zorgan“ and „Die schwarze Orchidee“.

Drawing ship floor plans was a wonderful challenge, and I truly enjoyed this project.

The adventure was written by, among others, Christian Bathen and Angelika Prokschi – a small but very welcome informal collaboration for me.

Art Direction (AD) by Steffen Brand.

I made this video before I saw the news this morning. Still, the message applies. If you want to do something, consider joining your local chapter of the DSA.

No matter your ability, skill level, availability, there is something you can do right now to help.

Advanced Cpp & DSA Course for Top Tech Placements

In the rapidly shifting tech landscape of 2026, one thing remains constant: Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) are the gatekeepers to high-paying jobs at companies like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon. If you are aiming for a dream placement, a “syntax-only” approach won’t cut it. You need a deep, logic-first understanding of Advanced C++ combined with rigorous problem-solving skills.

Why Advanced C++ is Still King in 2026

While many languages come and go, C++ remains the gold standard for competitive programming and system-level engineering. Its proximity to hardware and the power of the Standard Template Library (STL) give you a performance edge that is critical during high-pressure coding rounds.

Master the Logic-First Approach

At TCCI (Tririd Computer Coaching Institute), we believe that memorizing code is a recipe for failure. Instead, our “Logic-First” philosophy, spearheaded by Riddhi Ma'am, focuses on how to think like a developer.

Our curriculum covers:

  • C++ Fundamentals to Advanced: From Pointers and Memory Management to C++23 features.
  • The Big Three of DSA: Dynamic Programming, Graph Theory, and Advanced Tree Structures (Segment Trees, Trie).
  • Optimization: Learning to reduce the time and space complexity of your solutions.

The Science of Efficiency

A top-tier interviewer doesn’t just want a working solution; they want the most efficient one. Understanding Big O notation is the language of optimization. For instance, moving from a naive search to a refined algorithm can change your complexity from:

O(n2) - O(n log n)

Whether it is calculating the shortest path in a network using Dijkstra or optimizing a recursive solution with Memoization, we ensure you understand the mathematical backbone of every line you write.

Pro Tip: In 2026, interviewers are increasingly focusing on how you handle “Edge Cases” and “Scalability.” It’s not just about the code; it’s about the design.

Why Choose TCCI Ahmedabad?

Located in the heart of Ahmedabad’s tech corridor at South Bopal and Iskcon Cross Road (Navratna Corporate Park), TCCI offers a unique boutique learning experience.

  • Personalized Attention: Small batch sizes mean Riddhi Ma'am works directly with you to clear doubts.
  • Flexible Batches: Options for college students and working professionals.
  • Real-World Prep: Beyond just coding, we focus on mock interviews and resume building for Tier-1 companies.

I can’t get enough of this suit I wore yesterday. The skirt is about two inches long so I rarely wear it.

Before my husband had the idea of using the actual Stranger Things Purple Rain moment as the backdrop, I was stumped coming up with one (because it’s hard to find something that looks like the Upside Down 😂).

We tried this local high school, Durham School of the Arts, because I was thinking the entrance looked like the Hawkins Library, which reappears when the Upside Down vanishes. It actually doesn’t mimic it at all, but it was fun to shoot there, it’s such a cool building.

My high school experience in the 80s in Evansville was pretty good, and when I was sharing old pics of it with a friend recently, she thought they looked very typical Hollywood movie-ish. I wish I could have had this experience! Arts in a lovely old building. But I didn’t even think of myself as creative or artistic at all back then, so I don’t know how that could have happened.
