Cover Stars: Yes, You’re Supposed to Judge a Book by Its Cover
March of the Writers – Day 3 “Never judge a book by its cover” might be kind advice for humans, but it’s terrible advice for publishing. Readers judge covers instantly. In seconds. Before a synopsis. Before a review. Before a single word. And they should. A cover is a contract. It tells you what emotional experience you’re about to enter. In a perfect world, I would collaborate with cover artists…
Harper’s Bazaar Brazil December'25/January'26, cover fashion model is Mariana Santana, fashion photographer is Josefina Bietti, one of their several covers. MUA: Suy Abreu, stylists are Aline De Beauclaire, Marcell Maia. Also featured in their cover editorials, fashion models Daiane Sodre, Gabriela Nied and Lara Menezes. Contributors, directors etc connected to their cover editorials: Gui Paganini, Marco Cella, Carlos Esser. Our notes: some transparency in the outfit has been edited away. [At our BERLiNiB social media we post, as a rule of thumb, a pair from our OWN fashion magazine, which has only authentic non-ai photos, and a cover or so from ANOTHER good fashion magazine –and always with full and unambigious references. All the photos in the BERLiNiB magazine are of course entirely original and created by/for BERLiNiB–each team referenced; only at social media do we, sometimes, post news from other quality fashion magazines, and in doing this, we honor copyrights, which means that when we post from another magazine, we only do so for photos that are well represented in social media or at websites like models.com and thefashionspot.com, and always w/proper acknowledgements.]

Cover art for a trash metal band finished, tell me what you think?
My client commissioned an illustration depicting how people get lost in addiction, but with a touch of gore, of course. I created the original with pen and ink on traditional paper, and after digitizing it in high quality, I added color and gothic lettering (at his request) so that my client could have both versions available depending on his needs.

📚✨ Randomly stumbled on The First Witch of Boston on Amazon and decide to make out a perfect mockup, starting from a Book cover, and what instantly caught my attention wasn’t just the book, it was the design strategy.
A strong book cover and promo setup can sell the story before a single page is read. Here’s why this one works so well:
Bold, eye-catching title that commands attention.
Consistent branding across formats (print, Kindle, mobile).
Dark, atmospheric imagery that speaks the genre loud and clear.
This is the kind of design that doesn’t just sit on Amazon—it pulls readers in and sparks curiosity. That’s the power of smart book visibility
