Today I played with a digital brush called “ Kyle’s Real Watercolor Basic 50 “
This brush at its largest setting is 50 pixel, which makes a good sized stripe pattern . It is quite pressure sensitive and leaves a watery thinning trail as the pressure is lessened on the stroke . So starting off with quite a strong brush strokes pressure on the Apple Pencil gives a strong stripe with good texture … keeping the Apple Pencil touching but lessening the pressure as I drag the stroke it trails of getting thinner , both in size and density down to a watery end tip … Quite fluid and nice . When overlayed it barely leaves any darkening or shadow effect — just gets denser and loooses most of its transparent texture in the process . So this brush would be good for layering single strokes , side by side without much color blending or overlays .
I am not sure if I will keep this brush in my favourites as I mostly enjoy layered color blending and defined shadow edges , but there is something quite beautiful about the way this brush tapers out like watercolor drips with lessening pressure - I think it’s trying to persuade me to give it a chance 😉
