Generally, when it comes to YouTube analyses of media (especially media I’ve personally consumed), I tend to block negative clickbait content because even if the video’s creator does make good/more nuanced points, if you advertise yourself as overtly negative I’m going to take that as it is, if only for my own mental health’s sake.

I’d not heard much by Clickbait but kindof liked it after the first few seconds of listening to them plus it was a chance to check out the newly refurbished basement of the Exchange.  I’ve always preferred the basement to the main room, small space but big sound.  The space and stage are bigger than they used to be but still cosy and the sound just as good.

Genuine question, does clickbait even work? Because everytime I see e.g. a youtube video with an annoyingly vague title and loud, colorful thumbnail, I just get turned off by it.

Noticed it especially since watching VSMP and getting more into MCYT. Scott is very prolific in it, where I actually ignore 50% of the vids I get suggested, and have to wrangle with myself to actually click on the rest of them. And the thing is, I actually like Scott’s videos! He’s funny and entertaining, but the first impression is horrendous.

Pyro is another example of this. My dude does NOT need to put out videos with this fake, clickbaity style, where his tone of voice alone is grating. I often notice it in shorts of his, but the intros to his vsmp episodes do it as well. He’s a very good entertainer otherwise, I love the characters he does!

Am I out of touch? Is this actually something that works?
