THEY CAME OUT OF THEY’RE HIDING PLACES CAUTIOUSLY AND HOLDING HANDS!!!!

FOR FIVE DAYS ALL WHILE HIDING AND TRAVELING AT NIGHT DESPITE NOT SEEING OR HEARING ANYONE DAY OR NIGHT IN THE VICIOUS DARK DEADLY FOREST WERE THEY WERE OFTEN BY WOLVES BEARS WOLVERINES AND STUFF THEY DIDN’T BUT FEEL AND SENSED ESPECIALLY HOPERUN WHO STUCK CLOSE TO TWIG HIS BEST FRIEND SOMETIMES WALKING OCCASIONALLY RUNNING WITH THEY’RE BACKS TO EACH OTHER TO SEE BACKWARDS AND FORWARDS HOPERUN AND TWIG BOTH AGREED THAT ONLY THING SAVING THEM BESIDES HOPERUN’S SIXTH SENSE AND UNDSTANDING OF WILD ANIMALS WAS THE FACT THAT THERE WERE TWO OF THEM IN THAT HORRIFIC DEADLY VICIOUS FOREST THEN STILL DEEP DEEP IN THE FOREST TO THEY’RE SHEER SURPRISE AND AT FIRST WORRY UNTIL THEY SAW THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD QUILTS THEY’RE PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS TAUGHT THEM ABOUT HANGING ON CLOTHES PINS INFRONT OF A LARGE HOUSE WHICH THE QUAKER WOMAN CAME OUT QUICKLY USHERED THEM WITH HELLO’S AND WARNINGS OF WHAT WAS IN THE FOREST AND SLAVE CATCHERS AND SLAVERY SUPPORTERS ALIKE THEY WOULD HAVE BE QUIET AS POSSIBLE WHILE HIDING IN THE CRAWLSPACES AND HIDDEN ROOMS AND SECRET COMPARTMENTS IN AROUND AND ABOVE THE HOUSE WHEN THEY WERE HIDING IN FOR A FEW WEEKS THE QUAKER CAME OUT OFTEN TO LOOK NORMAL AND TEND THE HOUSE INCLUDING THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD QUILT WHO’S MESSAGE HOPERUN AND TWIG HAD MEMORIZED AND ALL OF IT WAS SCARY DAUNTING AND DEADLY!!!!

EVENTUALLY WHEN THE QUAKER WOMAN AND HER FAMILY SAID IT WAS SAFE THEY DIRECTED HOPERUN AND TWIG AND OTHER SLAVES NORTH EACH TO DIFFERENT STATIONS AT DIFFERENT TIMES INCLUDING TWIG AND HOPERUN WHO THEY WOULD GUIDE WITH DIRECTIONS THROUGH ANOTHER VICIOUS DEADLY FOREST TO BOATS FROM THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD!!!! HOPERUN AND TWIG WERE SCARED OF WATER BUT TWIG EVEN MORE SO HE WAS HORRIFIED WHEN HE GOT ON THE BOAT WHEN THE WATER WAS CALM WHILE IN HIDDEN COMPARTMENTS IN THE BOAT WITH HOPERUN AND WAS CLOSE TO SCREAMING BUT DIDN’T THANKS TO HOPERUN HOLDING AND COMFORTING HIM WHEN THE WATER TURNED VICIOUS AND TURBULENT DURING A HORRIFIC THUNDERSTORM STORM THAT LASTED THE REST OF THE BOAT TRIP FOR A WEEK BEFORE GOING TO A WILD PLAIN WITH EXTREMELY TALL GRASS AND PLANTS THAT TORE AT THEY’RE THIGHS AND LEGS AND ANKLES AS IF THEY WERE TRYING TO EAT THEM ALIVE!!!!

Black History Month Rant
I hate, and I mean HATE, the suggestion that we do not celebrate Black History Month right in the US. We need to learn about overlooked history. Black history is American history that gets ignored or modified to suit different agendas. It’s important to know the truth. It’s important to celebrate our accomplishments. My parents lived through segregation. My grandparents lived through Jim Crow. They aren’t dead yet! The idea that we all need to shake our behinds to music instead of commemorating what our ancestors, parents, and grandparents accomplished is offensive. The disrespect last month was loud on Beyoncé’s internet. I’m putting this here; if it turns people off, it’s whatever.

The Burning : Black Wall Street & the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921
(young reader’s adaptation by Hillary Beard)
I was fortunate to have an AP teacher spend time teaching us about this atrocity in high school, where we read the original book by Madigan for a project. Now, ten years later, I wanted to read it from a teen-focused adaptation, written by a Black woman and historian.
The young reader’s adaptation is filled with immenses heart and care, focusing on stories from all waves of professions and generations of Black families and community members who lived during Greenwood’s attacks or inherited the grief and trauma decades afterwards. Beard does an excellent job highlighting instances in history where this massacre was the first of many modern-aged atrocities fuelled by white supremacy. The citations are profound, careful, and plentiful to show off just how many voices Beard added to this saga of pain.
This adaption is sacred; as we head violently into an age where our gov. wants our teens to forsake critical thinking for convenience, Beard’s adaptation presents objective, powerful stories for us to share and retell and learn from. Every history class should use this.

Thee Booth Experience: Black History
This Black History month I decided to jump into interview bag and start a series of One on One interviews with like minded individuals from the DMV area starting with my brother Devonte “Black” Young of Enspire Streetwear and a number of other businesses he runs. Black and myself go back 20 plus years from High school Basketball teammates, to working together on our respective brands, and now continuing to create our own legacies. The interview is broken into two parts focusing on our fashion journey, college careers, and dropping gems on how we have sustain the longevity of 10 plus years in business.
Seemed fitting having Black kickoff the interview series in Thee Booth Experience with Black history month as we share stories of our history and created our own paths through the years. Both becoming Fathers and battling the ups and downs of entrepreneurship.
