Just. Thinking about Ceicive’s speech device and how it sounds.

Did they record his word salad speaking voice and let the computer extrapolate a version of it to use, leaving him almost taunted by what’s him but also not him?

Did they use J'hren’s as a base and modulate it into a younger and crisper version to try and avoid that, giving him both a constant connection, but also a painful reminder of separation?

Did he modulate it entirely himself from a default template, getting perfect control over something in regards to himself for the first time in ages, but also a sharp reminder that it’s fully artificial just like most of the rest of him ?

I’ve tried drawing it before and it always turns into something else, but I have this very specific idea for a drawing of Ceicive that I want to actually do one day, where he walks for the first time after ages of of bodily immobility following his deassimilation, suddenly and deep in the middle of the night with no-one around, to look at the pale blue moonlight coming in through a massive window in a corridor.

He wouldn’t be able to stand for a long time given the weakness of disuse, so ends up just sitting there and beginning to process things like being alive and moving and everything that happened and didn’t and just Everything but also kind of nothing beyond the glow of the moon and the way the light looks on everything in the room, just all of it

I want to get that moment where he’s staggering raw down the corridor and that pause in momentum where he’s just standing a bit before one of the windows, swaying a little as he stands there to see it in all that it is and realizing what he can see and that he’s seeing it, just the culmination of everything in the moments before he goes to the ground

Artistic nudity below the cut, but I tried drawing a sort of guide to Ceicive’s Borg implants that would be covered up 99% of the time (though just the front, I think the spinal stuff might be more intricate)

Idk if y'all can read my writing, so it says:

  • normal/ridges mutilated
  • wires under skin/outer wires (very sensitive)
  • Thick, makes S[shoulders) lopsided
  • Gastric/Spinal
  • Always wears long clothing, very ashamed
  • No Implants :)
  • Regrown Tissue (reflexes are wonky)/Normal

(also yes I made Cardassian penises retractable 75% because I didn’t want to erase my shaded lines to draw a better penis)

the latest screenshots from Rust rp :)

I can’t say anything about this week except that, despite not liking these types of games, I stayed and watched every single day. The most interesting moments are when the players interact; just listening to charborg and Criken’s dialogue is pure pleasure because they don’t even have to make anything up to be funny. :D

Do you like shooters?

It occurred to me that no matter how hard Criken tried, he was too kind to do evil.

Purely by random vibes, I would rank the ability for “evil behavior” (in games and rp) as Criken -> charborg -> Sput -> wobo. Wobo is chaotic evil.

I like to think about how what we lack in reality is reflected in our behavior in games.

I also noticed that both Criken and Sput almost never take days off. He’s having dental surgery, and that’s the only reason he takes a couple of days off. It must take a lot of perseverance and energy to stream every day…

Criken even said, “If I take a day off, you’ll forget about me.” That sounds… disturbing. Do all streamers think this way because it’s their job to always be online?..

Ok so it turns out on real paper you need to actually plan out your drawing. I am so used to fixing it up in post.

I think my proportions are improving. Now I need to stop dragging my palm across the page.

  • 400 pages (four days to read)
  • First published 1991-05
  • Pocket Books TNG Unnumbered
  • Stardate: not given (season four)

Cover image, blurb, and forward, all indicate the Borg are back. It’s barely been months since the events of Best of Both Worlds. (And even more than normal the events are “non-canon” with a disclaimer that the events are the authors interpretation of the Trek universe.)

Various appearances from a couple of the former crew, Pulaski and Shelby, are on new ships. Also goes back to TOS episodes for a couple of things.

Picard with hair is an obvious indication the initial setting isn’t “present day” and the reader gets a small insight into his academy days during lecture discussion of the “Planet Killer” from TOS.

As the Borg had only really appeared a couple of times when the novel was written the author was able to write things that weren’t yet non-canon. And went against ‘higher ups’ understanding to have a woman among the Borg. Little more than half a decade before Seven of Nine would be introduced.

A threat tot he Borg, is also a threat to the Federation, because something that powerful is obviously a threat. I didn’t think about it until writing this, but there’s a small comparison to be made with species 8472.

Lots of death, even discounting the planet attacked very early by the Borg. Some small backstory for Guinan (who appears on the cover). Significant focus on attempting to recover a rescued drone, and a year before I, Borg it’s also Geordi heavily involved in that attempt. Bit parts, almost comedic interlude, from Ferrengi that end up as dead as most of the other new ships/crew.

I'mmm thinking about the subtle(?) ways Ceicive’s relationship with his deborged body shines through sometimes.

  • The way he sits and stands in either perfect poise or broken ragdoll posture because he’s either hyper aware or on complete autopilot (but it’s the autopilot of an autopilot).
  • The meticulous oiling, gelling, and combing of his hair, mercilessly pulling out the little patches of stunted downy quills around the implants on his scalp with the comb’s teeth, then layering the properly redeveloped, if brittle, hair quills over them to conceal them
  • Not showing his teeth despite constant smiling because the dental repairs feel so obvious (they’re not, just a little whiter than is completely normal)
  • Unconsciously touching his implants when he’s nervous or uncomfortable (the ones on his neck would almost obscene within Cardassian culture if it wasn’t so very obviously a mess of metal and scar tissue)
  • Wearing unusually high collared uniforms and, off duty, sweaters and scarves
  • Putting off filing and sharpening the dewclaws on his bioregenerated foot until they start to get bulky and trip him up
  • Doing as many casual tasks as possible one-handedly because his left hand has the visible biowiring
  • Coiling his tail hard around his legs when he’s standing still or around his right (less implanted) arm because its one of the few parts of him with no metal (though even it was still regrown albeit biologically)
  • Not keeping mirrors that show more than a small aspect of himself at any given time
  • An unspoken paranoia that his touch is freezing cold and the metal sharp.
  • Feeling small, sharp, and fragile (which by Cardassian standards he admittedly is somewhat, though not to the extent he feels)

You know what, fuck it I think Ceicive has a tail. I like my aliens with a bit of alien in ‘em, I love when people draw Cardassians with tails, and I’ve even mentioned I sometimes think of him having one so now he canonically has a tail!

Now you get to play a role in deciding something about his tail:

The tale of the tail:

Kept his tail his whole life

Borg cut it off but it grew back naturally when it wasn’t being removed

Borg cut it off and it was regenerated medically like his hair, teeth, and foot

Had to get amputated medically but was regenerated biologically

Had to get amputated medically but was regenerated medically

I do not think Cardassians should have tails so I’ll politely press this button
