I ran numbers on a real Amazon KDP business for sale built around coloring books, kids activity books, and niche cookbooks. Here is how it actually looks.
I’ve gotta say lately, overall this looks like a fun business to invest in and work off what’s in place.
Quick snapshot:

- Multiple: 32x monthly profit

What I like
I like that this is built on:
- Evergreen topics: kids activity content and cookbooks tend to stick around for years if quality is good.
- A strong hero book with real social proof. A 4.7 rating with 161 reviews is not easy to fake your way into.
- A simple content system: original books started with the seller and his wife, then they layered in vetted freelancers, a doctor on the best-selling coloring book, and multiple designers for covers.
- A reasonable payback window under three years if profit stays close to current levels.
If you already speak “Amazon PPC” and understand keywords, you are buying a working machine instead of starting from zero.
What worries me
The part that makes me pause is the risk profile:
- Revenue is concentrated. Top 5 paperbacks = 82 percent of revenue, and one book is almost a quarter of the money by itself.
- Full platform risk. Everything lives on Amazon’s rules and algorithm. One big change can shift rankings or ad costs.
- No big stand-alone website or email list is mentioned, so you are not getting a big off-Amazon brand.
- Royalties from KDP and related platforms are delayed 30–90 days, so the first few months after buying can feel slow on cash coming back.
This is a nice cash-flow asset, but I would not want it to be my only source of income.

If I bought this, here is how I would try to grow it:

- Tighten Amazon PPC. Trim waste, push the highest-margin titles, and watch keywords week by week.
- Clean up branding across covers so this looks like a real family of books, not random titles.

This is how you turn “just a KDP account” into a small brand that is harder to copy.
Rating, negotiation, and future potential
Factoring everything in, I land around 8.2 out of 10 on this deal.
- Points for margin, payback window, evergreen topics, and the existing content machine.
- Points off for concentration, platform dependence, and limited off-Amazon assets.
At a 32x multiple, I see the price as fair, not a steal. Personally I would try for 28–30x monthly profit to give myself more cushion for Amazon algorithm changes and title swings.
Future wise, KDP will keep getting more competitive, but high quality books with real reviews still win. Coloring books and cookbooks aren’t going away. With consistent launches and smarter ads, this looks like a “slow build” cash flow play, not a rocket ship, and that is fine if you go in with that mindset.
