I’ll be so fr I don’t think these ~ironic visual novels~ are at all common, I can only think of a handful off the top of my head (and no, DDLC doesn’t count, just because it’s a meta horror VN which breaks the 4th wall it doesn’t mean it’s insincere or made with hatred for the medium. Dan Salvato literally has Tsukihime covers on his YT channel and he used to post in the visualnovel subreddit about how much he likes Akiha, he was clearly familiar with the medium before making DDLC).
As a VN dev who has made over 30 VNs in the last 10+ years, and who has read a slew of JVNs and EVNs, I’m actually quite tired of people claiming there’s a bunch of irony-poisomed VNs out there made by English devs who hate the medium. Most VN devs I know make VNs because they genuinely love VNs. You have to, if you’re making a VN in the first place, because it’s not a popular or profitable medium on the whole and making one takes a lot of work.
TL;DR read more evns there’s a lot of good sincere stuff out there which gets overshadowed by this incorrect assumption that the majority of evns are mean-spirited parodies or deconstructions

Actually a pretty good test tho a bit vague for autistic peope who struggle with deciphering meaning, except the one about collecting information about things - it’s usually not collecting info like rocks, it’s learning about things (it’s quite rare for somebody to only list train types but not know anything else about them) and the last question is about aphantasia which might be more common with autism but not connected to it. Like how being asexual is more common among autistic people compared to the full population but it’s not an autism screening factor either.

Just finished the Eva routes, they were pretty good, though I feel like they were extremely short, and the romance between takumi and Eva kinda came out of nowhere. I liked seeing Eva when she wasn’t brainwashed a lot though, and getting more insight into futuran culture. I did NOT like the ending of 008 though. Why the random pregnancy. Kodaka there was no reason to put that there.
Overall, short, flawed, but overall a good route, id rate it around a c+ / b- ^^
Also am I going crazy or was the sdu WAYY too quick to kick takumi out?? I might be losing it but I feel like they were uncharacteristically unsympathetic towards Eva, esp after learning the truth of the war. Feels like the writers just wanted an excuse to make the two live together imo T_T
Eva killed Shouma the most beloved member of the SDU they could never forgive her after that sadly 😢
