I remember when it was taboo simply to answer your cell phone in public. The person answering would apologize and try to go to a more private area. Then public calls were normalized. Then putting people on speaker. Then listening to music without headphones. Do you know how many times I have hiked up a mountain or driven to the beach, only to be met with someone blaring shitty top 40 music from their portable speaker, because Heaven forbid you go one hour without noise?

Been rewatching Anne with an E lately cuz I watched it when I was younger, just started season 2 and don’t remember what happens later but so far

Diana’s character literally in every episode is just her complimenting Anne and telling her how amazing she is and how good she is at everything in almost every sentence she utters at everything Anne does and it’s absolutely adorable the cutest thing I’ve ever seen 💞

My Thoughts on the Situation

The fact that people harassed Gooseworx to the point she had to delete her Reddit account is horrible. Some of you need to learn to mature and realize that just because the show isn’t focusing on the characters you want it to, it doesn’t mean that it’s “bad writing” or something, and it definitely doesn’t excuse harassment. The show is written beautifully, and it isn’t Goose’s job to please you. She is sharing her work, creativity, and world with us.

We are focusing on Jax and Pomni. This does not mean that the other characters have been “sidelined” in favor of these characters. The other characters are just as important as they always have been, and are still written well. The show isn’t focusing on Jax and Pomni for “marketing purposes”. It’s focusing on them because that’s who Goose wants it to focus on. Jax is a very in depth character, and has the most maladaptive coping mechanism out of all of the cast. So of course he’s being focused on.

We have gotten a pretty good amount of content around the other characters. They aren’t one dimensional, and are beautifully fleshed out and written. As well as this, Ragatha’s arc has kind of closed, as well and Gangle and Zooble’s. We’re likely going to learn more about kinger, and Jax and Pomni are going to be the main focus.

It’s okay to be sad that your favorite character isn’t going to be getting as much focus, but coping with that sadness by acting like it’s bad writing and harassing the creator over it, to the point she had to delete her Reddit account, is just awful.

Be grateful that this show was created at all, that you got to meet these characters, that you got to draw them, write fanfics of them, ship them, and relate to them.

In conclusion, just because the show is going in a direction that you personally do not like, does not mean it is bad writing, and definitely does not give ground for harassment. Ever.

I’d like to apologize to Goose, though I doubt she’ll see this, and is likely taking a justified break from social media right now.

Gooseworx, on behalf of all the decent people in this fandom that became inspired and moved by your work, I am so, so, genuinely sorry. I hope you’ll get to heal from this awful experience, and I hope this doesn’t force you to distance yourself from your own beautiful works. Thank you.

I’m glad that the show isn’t being glazed anymore, honestly. TADC is good, but fans kept talking about how perfect it is. And now because of those high expectations, they got upset when it didn’t go the way they wanted it to.

This advice is a tale as old as the day over-toxicity started, but: do it yourself.

If you want your favorite character to be focused on, then you give them the attention you think they need. Underrated characters and relationships are half the reasons why fan content exists, right?

Because the show writer —so long as they’re still writing their show with love and passion rather than to milk the views— has every right to focus on which part of their story they’ve already planned to focus on from the get go.

I get it. Some fans aren’t upset that Pomni and Jax are getting most of the attention, they just think characters (especially Ragatha) suddenly got ‘excluded’. Still not an excuse to demand more content in their favor and preferences.

But in my opinion, the other characters are doing just fine. Maybe you think they’re just being sidelined, but to me, they’re still holding very important roles. And it’s simply to exist with the others. Every show is going to need a cast. But not everyone in the cast is going to have a spotlight and that should be fine. Sometimes the shit they go through has always been better off as a subplot or background buildup.

They’re the VERY reasons why Pomni and Jax’s arcs haven’t gone stale; their admittedly shorter arcs that explore their problems, were a break from the other two. It gave them enough personality and depth, as to not label them as “Background character Number: 1,2,3,4…”

A show can’t run with just a protagonist and deuteragonist. How dull would the show be, if it was just those two from start to beginning, stuck in the circus? It needed other characters to give the story life.

Would you watch serialized shows —Steven Universe for example— if all the episodes were about Steven and his identity crisis and mommy issues?

Would you watch a romantic sitcom that only contains the main couple? (As in: no best friend, no silly parents that you wish you had, no break from the ‘building relationship’.)

Would you watch a horror movie with characters made only to be killed? (although there’s technically a lot of movies like that… but I’m talking about not giving characters any aspects that make us scared or upset whenever they get seperated).

Every shows has a main character or two, and every main character(s) will need a cast to give foundation to the entire show. And sometimes, it’s not a bad thing if they never get to stand in the spotlight. At times they usually do much better out of the spotlight than in it. Maybe Ragatha, Gangle, Zooble, and Kinger weren’t center stage, but they still did a lot for TADC just by existing.

Hi! I’d like to talk about this art piece for a second that I made a year and a half ago.

When I was drawing this image, I had just read the scene in the book, and really liked Trixie. I remembered this scene vividly in my mind and went “Oh my god, this kid is so badass, I love them.” and admittedly didn’t really think about the anxiety part of the scene. I just saw a cool scene, a cool kid with knives, and wanted to draw it.

I didn’t expect the post to gain the traction it did, and still occasionally is. Looking back, I probably would have just posted the art piece, not the caption I put as well. If I was to redo it, I probably would just post the art and nothing else.

My point is that I’m sorry if I mischaracterized Trixie. This was a year and a half ago, when I first got the book, and I often get characterization wrong. I just wanted to apologize for that.

Don’t worry about it, I don’t think it’s a mischaracterisation to call them badass. It actually IS badass that they are able to put on such a believable act like that while being so terrified inside. Trixie’s introduction to her character is one of my favourite introductions to a character honestly.

my tags were more so just agreeing with what Fudgingfauna said, wishing Trixie was talked about as a character more often and more seriously within the fandom, I wish there were more analysis or angsty type stuff of them. I don’t disagree with what you said either though, she is very cool and so is your artwork :) sorry I gave the wrong idea
