some sketches. contemplating this design change, i like my scraggly strange courier, but what do u think of this bulkier version? it kind of reads as more approachable to me, but less ‘unknown’. so greater contrast with the ninja look lol . wait. i need to grime her up. imagine her more grimey .

i was looking at yes man in free cam, getting refs, and i noticed the H H Tool Company logo on the securitron chassis, this is Mr. Houses schizophrenic half-brother’s company right?

If House didn’t take over his brothers company, was he buying from his brother to support his business without his brother even realising? But I looked into it again, apparently they /started/ working on the Securitrons together? so I assume his brothers paranoia ruined that working relationship…? But House still kept the branding…….

I noticed as well, you can find a Lucky 38 VIP keycard in Anthony Houses desk in the H-H Tool Company location. So he gave his brother a keycard, why, to give him the chance to be safe in the event of nuclear war? I’m trying to understand House as a character more. He annoyed me when I was younger so I would kill him asap lmfao.

He certainly plays the role of aloof observer, but he’s clearly got a lot of weak points. Ego, abandonment, etc. Lack of humans around means lack of chances for those to be exploited?

so their parents died in a freak accident and his half-brother (older it seems) cheated him out of inheritance… Do we have any info on how House actually felt about his half-brother? Everything u can find in game on their dynamic is from Anthony’s perspective while his mental state was crumbling. It would turn into house strictly relying on predictable ‘rational’ robots instead of the unpredictability of human psyches…

House’s leanings towards computer copies of people seems to start from that initial extreme rejection and separation from his half-brother. Not to mention that Anthony House had schizophrenia in game and was highly paranoid that Mr. House was coming for him and his company as retribution for cutting him out of the inheritance… but I don’t think House saw it that way at all.

He went his own way and made his success independently. But the evidence is telling me that House wanted his brother back in some capacity. Why else would you be able to find a Lucky 38 keycard in his brothers desk? That can gain access to the control room where u can kill House no less!

the two suits i combined for my couriers look + balaclava. could theoretically wear the courier/ncr ranger mask but hmmm

my courier six post-old world blues. her weapon is a proton axe, turned off rn. she is very nice i promise

I’ve modified the mk ii stealth suit, to look a little bit more like a combo of that and the OG chinese stealth suit they were stealing from! more sleek but still with the plating- reduced the contrast so it blends in more, but she wears a clunky overcoat to conceal the high tech suit for obvious reasons! - (in the future the light in the chest gear is a camera for yes man, she replaces the suit ai so yes man can tag along and observe ^_^)

for this courier, she ends up in the Big Empty before she comes across Nipton, (story wise, she came in at dark before Nipton was attacked so saw the eye + the satellite’s glow and wandered her way into science hell!)

So Vulpes + his crew meet The Courier after she finishes OWB lol. The courier coming out of OWB completely dazed and is slapped w/ with the horror of Nipton <///3

the hip bags are stealth boys- idk what they are in game but they’re perfectly stealth boy sized. the american scientists couldnt figure out what made the stealth suit actually go invisible, they could only reverse engineer the stealth boys, so she has to carry them.

i liked to sneak around a lot this playthrough and I had a modded suit that activated stealth with crouching. creepy lady… just hanging out watching people while invisible!! she’s gathering data do not be concerned.

she spends most of her time in invisibility and operates like that most of the time after OWB, unless she’s with a companion.

is it bad for you. game says no but hmmm

this seems to explain why yes man always talks about house all the time and seems to almost praise him and encourage the courier if they pick the “right” options as “you get to finish what he started!!!” (not exact wording)

MY ‘WHAT IS YES MAN’ FROM FALLOUT NEW VEGAS THEORY YAY

okay. here is my opinion. yes man IS an emergent AI, and to my guess, he is the ai that house programmed to take over in the event of his death. As in, yes man 'is’ the system that keeps the strip maintained and running and runs the neccessary routines to keep vegas working, as well as the securitron system, and every other layer of process that house created to make the strip functional and safe.

its stated mr.house never interacted with people, speaking only through his securitrons, be that through the personalities, or with his voice through the securitrons, i’m not sure. but it is yes man who has been the securitrons all along. killing house is what makes him 'fully active’ because he can integrate the new concept/identity formed while separated. house would have prevented this offshoot and corrected the code before it had the chance to effect the whole system.

Yes Man /is/ the securitron ai, 'he’, aka the version we talk to, is a fragment that emily ortal was able to accidentally create a space for!! A copy of houses ai that was separate from the main system long enough to start forming 'opinions’, as well as being influenced massively by benny’s drive and directives.

i imagine he was in a similar state to what securitrons that leave mr. houses range are put into? (EDIT: TIE IN THE SECURITRONS THAT DR.0 GOT ACCESS TO AND ESSENTIALLY TORTURED WHILE MODIFYING THEM, FRAGMENTS OF YES MAN? CUPPY YES MAN FRAMEWORK MOCK???)

When I think about what Emily was doing, the only thing i can think is that she targeted the 'securitron’ (EDIT: AND ALL THE LAYERS THAT PREVENTED PEOPLE FROM ALTERING OR REQUESTING ANYTHING UNLESS THEY WERE MR.HOUSE) layer of code of the ai from this unit. She was able to do this due to the securitron being scrambled by an emp and whatever else she was capable of doing. If the securitron had been damaged enough to be hacked, but not marked as destroyed, house would have cut access. It’s likely that the connection at the time was muddled enough to come across as destroyed so house accepted it as a loss, despite it being still active enough to access the data being passed around, but not access to the /WHOLE/ AI system. idk if ai is the right word.

benny seized the opportunity immediately. /how/ benny knew that emily ortal was capable of such a task and why he had the foresight to take the opportunity is another question entirely. but he is an opportunist! i don’t know how much understanding benny had of the strips ai? or where he found out this information, maybe mr. house taught him inadvertendly while bragging, benny became aware that mr. house wasnt the one 'controlling’ everything, rather the moderator of the system that was.

what i see as 'yes man’ is the personality that comes to the forefront when the securitron ai is repressed, the customer service layer that house doesn’t use (he has a bar in his hotel, many places for people to theoretically visit, maybe this function would have been use once mr. house had the securitrons to expend for non-guarding/scouting measures?

but the securitron layer being repressed also explains his barely supressed desire for violence and the usage of his weaponry. LOL

so it’s the customer facing, happy go lucky server personality- likely something that house didnt use/grew bored of (could be the source of yes man’s deep seeded need to be useful, even if it is delivered with sarcasm)

IN CONCLUSION!!!!!!!!!!!

yes man is NOT a programmed personality like victor and jane, yes man IS the strips ai, the one that would be putting on victors and janes faces! I think this is making sense. So when yes man is being put into the mainframe, you are essentially giving control to the 'new’ personality, aka the framework that formed around the new information gained while separate from house’s observation/restrictions.

this is supported (imo) by the fact that the strip is running the same processes that house would have coded to keep the place functional in the event of his death when he does die, which you can see because if you don’t follow yes man to the lucky 38- all of the securitrons are still functioning fine. nothing is glitching. house perfectly prepared the system in the event of his death. AKA YES MAN!!! i wonder what he would want to be called instead hmmm…? yes man also has access to all of houses projections, concepts and plans, but no way to take initiative and do anything with them. i believe this is what he is referring to at the end of the game, likely he will focus on whatever directives house had pre-set, and if you did well as the courier, influenced by your opinion. he probably fries you if u were a fool i guess <3? ? @skeleslime-phantom (sorry was going to reply but realised i needed to make a post it got out of hand LOL)

tldr: yes man isnt a new ai or a personality house created, he is the strips ai, he was just separate from the mainframe long enough to form a new perspective

i’ve been thinking about yes man with the context of new ai and all the chat bots that people delude themselves into thinking are sapient intelligence, because the bot repeats their ideas back to them.

what actually is yes man? he’s an ai sure, but where is he? i understand what he is in terms of the fictional fallout idea of ai, but what /is/ yes man. he has veiled hostility and opinions under the forced compliance coding, and everything about him implies emergent intelligence, but if he has been designed to mimic humanity, is he just that?

emily ortal hacked a securitron that was hit by an emp. She severed the link that allowed house to control and direct the unit which registered it as destroyed, and then modified it so it /couldn’t/ deny any command it was given, with zero restrictions. I guess injecting a moderator profile could be flagged? so yes man is like a rogue personality module in the system?

yes man was created in the process, creating a friendly interface that allows acess into houses systems and data without being flagged.

In this state and concept, he is just a personality module like victor, not a ‘person’… like an ai language model interface? except this is fallout, and he clearly has some amount of underlying intelligence. when u go against his plans hes clearly pissed lmfao, why would that personality feature be programmed in?

please yes man lovers give me your ideas of yes man. also i saw those cut voicelines when they got access to the beta files. yes man can tell you to fuck off if you dont want him to become more independent at the end. i like to think that if you played along and were a 'good helper’ to yes man, hes much more engaged and willing to trust the courier, but if you fucked the game and went worst ending with yes man, he becomes completely defiant lol

yes man starts at 5:30. also i love his positive response here… omg <3 HE SOUNDS JUST LIKE BENNY WHEN HE TELLS U TO FUCK OFF LOL. the slaughtering humans bit was obviously meant to be wild wasteland content i think.

im sure the voiceline about him hunting you down with securitrons made some of you very happy. (incldude m.e)

the assassin suit christine takes from big mt is so much more useful in pallette… so much sneakier… why is mk ii suit the most Eye Catching bold lined ‘look at me’ Body Skeleton Line ever? also the tug thing on the neck is cute but all i can see is someone grabbing that like a handle and clean upper cutting ur head off

i keep saying im going to open my commissions and dont i am sorry!!
i stopped doing them because alongside other things i wasnt happy at the quality i was producing all the time, or in my opinion it felt very inconsistent.

ive been ‘using’ fallout and transformers and other things to try and improve my art without worrying about disappointing commissioners (obviously while genuinely enjoying the source material and interacting ^_^)

i will likely need to big raise my prices if i open comms again to make the amount of time they take to be worth it to me, i genuinely dont know what my art at the condition it is currently is worth and it’s hard to get a genuine opinion. like, i want to create stuff that makes me proud of handing it over, when i don’t meet my own expectations …

dog grooming is much more uhhh financially safe for me as a commission that takes me many many hours to complete can sometimes cost the same as a groom that takes me 2.5-4 hours, y'get me? (i work with giant breeds)

maybe ill open commissions for canon characters where i get to sell the end result as merch and you get a discount? i’ve done that a few times. i love drawing peoples ocs but <////3

so with my courier six, for her narrative having the stealth suit is her thing. (The type where u go into stealth when u crouch)

One problem!! MK ii stealth suit UGLY!! (imo. loses the wet suit look, very vibrant white lines? Don’t like the boots either)

They stole the Chinese design and made it so much clunkier… lol. so I found an armored stealth suit mod for my playthrough instead. I’m trying to merge the visuals of the stealth suit mod into the mk stealth suit from the OWB dlc, so it’s recognisable at least .

I don’t know if I want her to go by courier or 6, maybe she starts as courier and goes by six after the big empty (0-6 broken loop)

what if u wiped the mk ii stealth suit personality (sorry girl you are wasting my chems) and let yes man use it as a remote link? the suit has its own unique systems but it’s just a behaviour module sooo hehe.

if you go out of signal he could have a low resource copy (limited capabilities) in the suit for temporary measures. Can send the collected data from the time spent out of signal once back in range :^)

raul tejada. another character where it’s hard to decide what direction to lead him in.

i personally like to imagine creating a safe® place for him 2 settle where he can provide for people and feel a sense of community and worth. he clearly cares about people under all that detachment !

i like to think about the fact that all of the scientists have names based around loops, and that courier 6- six is a broken loop… :)
