i think the fact that i can say over and over again ‘i am not being ironic, this is not a bit, my books are not a joke’ and have people on the right AND left just say 'NO YOU ARE’ to my face (or my mask) over and over again is very telling. culture just cannot deal with neurodivergent people yet
i am very thankful i have the confidence to weather decades of people calling my work ‘shit posts’ or ‘intentionally bad’. i think it has personally made me very strong and confident in my art, but it is fascinating how hard it is for some folks to even CONCEIVE of someone this different than them
most creators have these BIG DREAMS and goals, like winning an oscar or traditionally publishing a book: my dream is to live in a world where the average person has a relationship with joy and sincerity and sexuality and fantasy that makes my books seem not outrageous at all. which is how i see them

it’s nice seeing other people starting to open their eyes to what i’ve been saying for a while in that the current use and proliferation of the term “gooning” is an outright tool of fascism
the second “gooning” stopped referring to a specific sexual practice and started to be used as a replacement for “masturbation” we needed to kill it immediately and sadly we didn’t
if you call someone a “masturbator” in a derisive way you sound like a fucking mormon but suddenly you switch to calling them a “gooner” and you’ve created a way to express the same puritanical beliefs around masturbation that is not only palatable to the average person but the attached underlying implications of the term make people way more susceptible to adopting those beliefs themselves

Soo I’m watching this one YouTube video about bad reactions in fandom to asexual characters and I have some questions. Just to tumblr in general I guess.
Do you think characters in shipping, fanart etc. always have to be presented with their canon sexuality/preference?
Cause I don’t really think that and I feel like a lot of people reacting negatively to characters “coming out” as ace, is because they’re scared people won’t approve of their ships anymore?
