Ok so itβs a really long story BUT
Kyrin was originally born in a somewhat small village. In this village, it was tradition to name your children after birds as a sign of honor. Thatβs why Kyrinβs birth name was Eagle, their brother is Osprey, and their future partner is Raven.
Their parents were #terrible - abusive and neglectful, among other things.

Eventually somehow, Kyrin - still Eagle at this time - and Osprey escape their home. And, somehow, they end up being kidnapped and brought to a fighting ring.
After a week or two of being there, Eagle and Osprey are forced to fight each other. Eagle knows Osprey doesnβt stand a chance - heβs young, heβs weak, and he has no experience with fighting.
Theyβre dragged into the ring. Osprey doesnβt know whatβs happening - he was born deaf, so he canβt hear anything of whatβs going on. Heβs desperately signing to Eagle, trying to ask whatβs going on, but the guards shout at him every time he does so.
And so they fight.
Eagle knows theyβll win. They know, and they hate that. Eagle looks Osprey in the eye and knows he canβt hear their crying apologies.
Eagle has him on the brink of death - one more blow and heβll be gone. Eagle can barely see through the tears in their eyes. They pull their fist back, ready to strike-
-but they refuse.
They refuse to kill their own brother. They will not do it.
And so the guards do it right in front of them.
Eagle is forced to watch the light from their little brotherβs eyes fade in front of them as they scream his name, knowing he cannot hear. They cradle him in their arms, but they know that heβs gone.
Kyrin spends the next few days stuck in the cages in the ring, grieving and now dealing with fresh new trauma.
Thanks to Reasonsβ’, a creature from the darkest parts of the forest breaks into the ring. Now, this creature..the best way to describe him is an eldritch horror tooth wolf. He has the vague form of a wolf, though most of his body is literally just teeth. His natural instinct is to eat any and every living thing he comes across and, whenever he eats those things, he absorbs the teeth of what he ate. The drawing above is not accurate in the slightest, I just really didnβt feel like drawing an entire wolfβs worth of teeth lol.
Anyways. He breaks into the fighting ring and just straight up Eats People. All of em. Eventually he reaches Eagle. He charges at them, slashing at their face and leaving a really nasty gash across their left eye. He keeps clawing them and biting them, and yet, he doesnβt try to kill them; instead, he backs off, leaving them hurt but not dead.
*time skip idk*
*also the creatureβs name is Wraith now and heβs no longer violent towards Eagle because I said so*
*also Eagle has changed their name to Kyrin now*
So eventually somehow Kyrin meets Raven, another runaway from their old village. Things happen and theyβre in love now. Wraith was also aggressive towards Raven at first - itβs his instinct, after all - but once he saw that Kyrin felt safe with Raven, he backed off and is basically just a puppy around him lol. My sweet little eldritch horror.
*more things happen idk time skip*
Guess what! Now both Kyrin and Raven are in the same fighting ring now, and Wraith was left behind! :D joyous!
Kyrin is now having a miserable time (#trauma) and Ravenβs trying to comfort them (spoiler alert: it doesnβt work).
And now guess what? Kyrinβs forced to fight Raven!! Sound familiar? :3
Flash forward to when theyβre in the ring together. Think a desert duo-esque situation: they both fight, but Ravenβs blows are intentionally weaker. He tells Kyrin to kill him . If the ringmasters see Kyrin kill someone, theyβll be set free.
And so they do. Trauma happens, sobbing, tears, etc etc. But yeah. Kyrin kills Raven.
Theyβre able to escape, now carrying with them the grief that theyβve lost everyone theyβve ever loved at their own hands. Theyβre able to make it back to where they and Raven used to live, back to Wraith, and back at square one.
They built Raven a grave there. Theyβre the only one that ever mourned him.
They donβt know that Ravenβs spirit is there.
Heβs watching them kneel at his grave, telling them that itβs ok to let him go, that theyβre allowed to move on. Kyrin doesnβt see them, but they know someoneβs there. They know Raven is there.
Andβ¦yeah. Thatβs all I have as of right now!! Thereβs still a whole lot more to be done, but this is the basic outline :)
