Shanks fearing Buggy sees him the way everyone else does. The way Imu and his family want him to be. The way his blood is and what he could’ve ended up being. So he never tells the truth and embraces the carefree future he wishes for both of them with no past haunting them… While Buggy reads that secrecy as cowardice, selfishness and grandeur, when it’s the exact opposite. And it doesn’t matter if he’s honest or not because he always ends up in the same spot-

Shanks being a Celestial Dragon and the golden child and one of the most talented pirates of his generation and a Yonko and Shanks not wanting any of that or giving a single damn about it because the only thing he’s ever wanted is to have a cottagecore boat and sail around chilling with Buggy for the rest of his days… Absolute king of yearning.

Wanting to write things for Sanuso week but it might be just a few prompts and late because my mental health has decided now to focus on Sanuso again BUT LATE and when I should be focusing on my studies

I always perceive Sanji as the mermaid, but Usopp’s story has so much potential here too… (EDIT after writing the whole thing: This wasn’t meant to be a Little Mermaid AU and just a mermaid AU in general but the whole thing fits so well, I had to mention it…) - So Little Mermaid AU it is !

Usopp coming from a sea region that fears humans and whatever they might do to them if they’re ever found… His mom being sick and both her and Usopp being the only ones knowing Yasopp is a human pirate… Usopp always claiming the humans are coming for them… Yadda yadda yadda, much to think about here, but you get it.

And so Usopp longs for the human world too, curious of what might bring since he’s always making things out of human junk (as you said, because that is something he’d 100% do). He tells everyone he’s been to the surface and knows first-hand stories from there. He loves to tell lies people will believe (his best friend Kaya will, at least) about things he knows nothing about but wishes he would.

AND!!! You know the drill, Little Mermaid stuff!!!

I think Sanji almost drowning with Zeff exactly like what happened in canon except that he can’t fully save him and little mermaid Usopp helps them out and saves Sanji… And it becomes a whole legend that Zeff doesn’t quite believes even if he saw it with his own eyes… And Sanji wishes to find the All Blue because he believes that if he does, he will ALSO find the mermaid that saved him… God… Adding childhood sweethearts to this I AM CRAZY ABOUT THEM!!!!!! Then they fall in love and y'know, Little Mermaid plot kinda…

(I just thought the whole “not being able to speak” thing in the Little Mermaid fits them so well here because Usopp won’t shut up and his best skill is talking and HE CAN’T so… Yeah…).

The point is that Usopp is not only the representation of Sanji’s dream in a tangible, physical way (the sea, finding the All Blue, mermaids, stories…) but also in the sense of freedom. Sanji finds mermaids mesmerizing because they can swim anywhere. For Sanji, the sea is an escape from his past life and he wishes he could be as peaceful as he thinks he’d be underwater (a place he KNOWS by heart and wishes to know MORE). So Usopp is not only Sanji’s dream of finding a mermaid or the All Blue, but also the representation of what it would be like to be free.

While Sanji represents Usopp’s dream of the unknown. Of all the stories he makes up and wishes could become real someday. Of standing up for himself and proving to everyone else that he can build magnificent stuff the way humans have, and prove that not all of them are evil. To make his father proud, also. And Sanji, with his relationship with Zeff and skills, is everything Usopp wishes to be.

(Kinda wondering how Usopp feels about Sanji cooking fish but you know what I’m not thinking about it!)

And YES shirtless mermaid Usopp. What a very nice, awesome thought that would send Sanji into a cardiac arrest.

OH!!! And the concept of Ursula not only being Big Mom but also adding Pudding to the whole thing for her to manipulate Sanji and pretend she was the one to save him, etc etc… Then she feels awful and has a redemption arc but that’s because I love her!

HELLO LESBI-ANON (I find myself to be really funny for that) YOU’RE SO RIGHT SO SO RIGHT!!!!

Namivivi suffers from the fact that everyone considers female friendships just as close and personal as romantic relationships. Because women are more emotional, closer, more caring… And because there isn’t any man involved, why would it be romantic?

We truly need to abolish stereotypes regarding female and male friendships because it’s getting to a point where people will see two men (or a man and a woman) standing next to each other and instantly think it’s romantic (which I’m not saying it can’t be, let’s go gays also). Still, the second women display ANY romantic behavior with each other, “they could just be friends! That’s how female friendships are!” OR MAYBE THEY’RE LESBIANS, LOURDES, HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF THAT???? People just NEED a man to be involved, somehow, for it to be “romantic” or “interesting”.

Namivivi hate and people saying it’s “forced” when they’ve checked everything on the “cliché romance list” is so funny to me… Like yeah, female friendships are really personal and beautiful and could mean more than any other platonic relationship with a man… Or maybe they’re just lesbians… And people need to stop erasing that second option and start embracing it more!!!!!

Like I get that female friendships ARE important, but LESBIANS ARE ALSO IMPORTANT!!!!!! People can interpret this ship however they like (although if you see it as platonic exclusively and don’t understand WHY people ship them, I will low-key side-eye you) but saying it “comes out of nowhere” when it’s got more chemistry and romance vibes than most canon anime ships I’ve seen… is crazy.

Somehow, if the ship includes a man, you don’t have to do anything for it to make sense, but if it’s only women?? Oh, then you need to pull a Madoka-Magica-Time-And-Space Type Love for people to start realizing THEY’RE IN LOVE. And people will YET question the romantic implications somehow.

Usopp can have a romantic story/vibes with Kaya and people will just ASSUME it’s “CLEARLY” romantic but then Nami will have a very similar romantic story with Vivi regarding long-distance relationships and people will think it’s “stupid” for you to believe they could still be in love (mind you Nami canonically misses Vivi and thinks about her sooo much so idk what people are saying lol). I even see people say it’s “OBVIOUS” that Luffy and Vivi will end up together and like, no hate to the ship but people DON’T act that way when we talk about Namivivi…. Damn…

Although small mention to the fact that a lot of people apparently don’t even ship Usokaya because of racism too and that’s fucking insane to me when they’re indeed obviously in love but whatever man-

Long story short, women need to be extra romantic and try harder than any men for them to be even considered worthy of shippers’ attentionñ and I am EXHAUSTED.
