YAYAY!!! Welcome back to the OC ask bar!

[ 🕸️ ]ㅤ.ㅤdo they have a favourite lie they like to hear ? for Micah and Spark

For Micah- He doesn’t really like to be lied to at all, but he doesn’t mind his sister’s ‘lie’ of “Ive almost got it” when it comes to finding a way to get Voyager home. (Mostly cause she’s not lying, shes just trying to give him hope and he knows she’s really trying to find a way to get him home)

For Spark- this one was really hard, but I genuinely think Spark HATES being lied to for any reason. Growing up most of their fundamental beliefs were lies (their beliefs around their gods/the beginning of their culture) so when they find out the truth they hate being lied to and would rather hear the truth, even if it’s painful.

[ 🧨 ]ㅤ.ㅤwhat’s the quickest way to set them off, even if they hide it well ? For Margaret!

Go after her family. Margaret is definitely a “momma bear” kinda character. Although most people wouldn’t be able to tell by looking at her, since she’s usually very sweet, she can be absolutely vicious when it comes to defending her family.

YAY MORE MARGRET!!! I love that she’s getting so much love 💞💞

Continuing the continuation of Margret, would she like the thank you gifts she gets? (if you already said something on the post before seeing this just treat it as a free space question XD)

Absolutely! She would most definitely use the candle, probably not in a spell, but just as a nice candle while she’s cooking. And she would definitely try out the melon. Since she works with kids, i see her getting little trinkets from them and she would probably keep the stone from Ceicive there. The Naussican berries from R'aahs would probably end up going in a spell for Micah honestly (R'aahs has a very resilient energy and the berries would carry some of them as well as their own natural reliance from where they grow. Growing in harsh soil/climate would also transfer this energy of perseverance in the face of adversity).

She would absolutely find a use/place for all the thank you gifts she gets and treasure all of them.

In regards to her claircognizance, you talked some about what Margret would glean about Toka just seeing him (albeit with cultural context clues she already would have known) but what all kinds of stuff might she know just seeing other members of the Omelas crew that she doesn’t have the prior species cultural knowledge to know? (granted I know you as her author don’t have the omnipotence to know some stuff either, but of what you know what would she know?)

I think it depends on how long she talks to people and its not a very consistent gift (which is part of why it’s heavily discredited) and the cultural context clues are part of what guides her intuitive leaps about people.

Most people she wouldn’t get much off without a conversation, but R'aahs would definitely have the vibe of someone who had been through alot and I think she would be able to tell he had been on his own for a while.

Beyond Kirev’s obvious physical issues (walking with a cane i mean) Margaret would see that he lost some one he was supposed to care for (his child) in the way he parents the lower deckers.

She would be able to see that Muna grew up somewhere she felt loved and cared for in the way she cares for others.

I think generally the more she talks to someone the better she gets at discerning information. And to be fair, she believes the information she learns via her Claircognizance is her own mother and Grandmother giving her information to help the person she receives the information about, so if a person is well on their way to helping themself she might not pick on on much.

And one for Spark which I think the answer to is going to be no but I’m still curious so fuck it: If Spark for whatever reason touched Ceicive’s speech device would they intilearn any Kardassi? Like I know that’s not normally how that would work and their big thing is the emotions, but since it’s something with a very abject purpose regarding communication would it be any different? (or would they just get hit with a truckload of mixed feelings about the thing like normal? XD </3)

Unfortunately they would not learn Kardsssi from just touching it, it would definitely be a truckload of complex and mixed feelings. Im honestly not even sure Spark would be able to learn Kardassi. They have an difficult time learning spoken English and differentiating from all the different sounds. They might be able to learn to read Kardassi, but I think understanding the spoken language or speaking it themself would be extremely difficult.

I deleted a fic, and the lack of comments demanding another chapter or sequel is wonderful 💖💖💖

A friendly reminder to readers everywhere:

Good: this fic is great, would love to see more if you can!

Bad: it’s ok ending where it is but you have to finish it out with another chapter

Good: hey are you planning another chapter or sequel? No pressure

Bad: you can’t leave it here. You have to write more.

Good: I wish I knew what happened! I’m imagining a lot now!

Bad: look I get you tagged ambiguous/open ended but you have to finish it it’s not fair

What’s the difference? Good- you’re not confronting the author, just saying you like their stuff, want more of it, and sometimes asking questions.

Bad- you’re demanding. I am not a corporation. I do not make money from fanfic. You are turning my stress reliever into another stressor.

On Writing

Two lines that I think are really good and I actually wrote them

“To chosen friends, allies and family old and new.”

“ I was a rebel before they existed and still one after they were gone.”

One has a place one doesn’t, but I like them both and thought I’d share with the wider world

Lyssandra is still mostly a work in progress character where I am still fleshing out her plot and story. She is an attempt at making a character that is complex and interesting but is definitely not a good person cuz I love to make characters that are good people LOL… She is conniving, clever and pleasant on the surface, but is most certainly someone that is very cruel and will do anything to get what she wants. (Very loosely inspired by Yotsuyu FFXIV) She’s also extremely good with a sword.

Right now the concept is that she is the leader of a village mostly consisting of glowing fox folk deep in a dark mushroom biome that are worshipping what they believe is a moon goddess, but is actually a Nox (Vanus’ demons). I only have a couple of images of her cuz she’s still a pretty new concept. Here’s the initial design ideas for her and the False Goddess.

It’s definitely doomed older woman yuri that she has dragged an entire town of people into a cult for. Every full moon she goes to a clearing where the veil between the mortal realm and the realm where the Nox reside. There she makes offerings of blood in exchange for pockets of power in the form of magic dampening abilities, as most of the inhabitants of the village either never gained magic, or have relatively weak magical energy. Vanus is a magic world so being able to nullify someone else’s magic gives you a huge advantage. Lyssandra does this because she is very in love with this false goddess and has convinced herself she is protecting her people by sacrificing blood to her. It will only get worse for literally everyone involved.

✨Weekend Wip Exposure Club✨

Thanks for the tag @kissesandclaws. I love you and love that you love my writing this much. I’ve literally only got three paragraphs into the next chapter of Dark Things (just realised this is actually bullshit) and rip Blood Sport my beloved 😖 I’m depressed and writing is hard right now. Anyways, ask and ye shall receive~

Inwoo was always so hungry for Dongsik’s confined darkness. Devours it with eager jaws, a primal act unlike anything Dongsil had experienced from another person before. It should disturb him, how Inwoo feasts on violence, how the death of another turns him on as it does. All Dongsik feels in regard to this is some twisted sense of pride and fascination of his own.

But it isn’t alone. The part of Dongsik that remains tainted by his past, the pristine innocence that used to pump through his being, bleeds guilt. It cries loudly, begging to be heard.

Deep down, he knew this wasn’t ‘normal’, that it was wrong. To use the tragedy of a departed soul to create pleasure for another, and feel pleasure from that. It was an all-consuming, sharp depravity that had sunk itself into Dongsik, marred itself with his bone.

And that’s all she wrote 😉

Tagging uh, anyone who wants to join in I guess

“oh man how’d you pull that-”

I didn’t pull shit. I gave a single, long, lonely call into the void and they came. I called, they came. Not out of devotion or loyalty or love or pain but out of curiosity. They heard a kindred spirit out on the planes of life and decided to take the chance and follow it. I called. They came. Out of curiosity, out of surprise they weren’t alone. I didn’t pull any red string of fate, we weren’t guided by any other hands, all I did was say, “I’m here. I’m ready. Come find me.”

And someone called back and said, “I’ll find you.”

Whenever the mood takes me, I guess?

I posted two stories (each 10k+) and a random little drabble this week. I don’t have a schedule, I don’t force myself to write if I’m not in the mood for it, and honestly this week has been A Bit Of A Week, so the mood hasn’t really been there.

It’s currently 8:37am on Saturday. I’m busy most of this weekend, but I’m off work this upcoming week. Maybe I’ll blast out another 50k on disparate youth? Maybe I’ll write a 300 word headcanon and nothing else? I don’t know, and honestly that’s okay.

Good evening!!!

For Spark with their tactile empath abilities: what was something that they touched whose emotional residue really surprised them (good or bad or both?)

I think they are often suprised by Padds. Work padds dont have much, if any, emotional imprint, but personal ones or Padds with letters from loved ones often surprise Spark. I think the most startling is the “Dear John” letter Julia sends Micah. Spark picks it up by accident once and almost cries. Dispite it being years since Julia touched the Padd, Spark can still feel some of her guilt and sorrow from writing the letter along with everything Micah had felt while reading and re-reading the letter for years. I think letters home are often things that make Spark pause when touching them because of the DEEPLY personal feelings they hold.

As for good feelings that suprised them, Emma’s stuffed black cat. Spark doesn’t realize how deeply children become attached to their comfort toys because children on Otel are taught to give any soft toys to small kids are part of their growing up. Most kids have given their biggest comfort item to a smaller child by age 7 (Malachi would have just given up their favorite doll before Spark left) so the first time Emma asks Spark to hold BK (black kitty but Emma calls the toy BK) the amount of affection and comfort/safety in such a small stuffed toy is very perplexing to Spark.

For Julia: Does she have any pets once she’s living aboard DS9 and things are sort of quasi settled down for her and her daughter?

She does! So there was alot of similarities between Ed and Micah, but one of them was Ed was a cat guy so when he dies Julia inherits his cat, Rutabaga (Ed called the cat Rutie). Rutie is a brown and orange cat and the nicest, sweetest, dumbest cat you would ever meet. I think after Rutie dies Julia keeps a cat around, mostly for Zaika but also cause she knows Ed would alwsys have a cat so its a little bit of her keeping his memory alive.

and for Margret: Since she knits, what was her most unsusal project that she’s undertaken and how did it turn out?

So generally Margaret hates knitting socks/slippers, but Heather finds this specific pattern when shes 12

And wants them so bad Margaret feels obligated to make them. Its an absolute nightmare. She restarts three times and there are half a dozen flaws but the sock/slippers look like little grey sheep and Heather LOVES THEM. She ends up asking Margaret for the slipper socks in other colors and Margaret agrees to make four more pairs (red, blue, green, purple). The slippers get progressively better and the last pair, the red ones, are actually picture perfect. They are still a nightmare to make, but Heather wears them until they are worn thin and then repairs them to wear them longer.

Currently thinking about how “You’ll Be Back” by Jonathan Groff perfectly suits the antagonist in Elvira’s story–oh, and not to mention, but his dynamic with her as well.
