Just saw the coolest theory ever that Wolfenstein Youngblood is the Bad End of the story caused by the Fergus timeline. While in the Wyatt timeline they figure out what the God Key is for and what it does, Seth dies before they do so in the Fergus timeline. You can even bring it further and say the 4th Reich are the ones who will eventually lead into the events of DOOM happening with their dimensional portal bs.
Additionally, I personally think that BJ having the successive experiences of meeting J and then Grace provides more character development for him realizing that he can’t just fight to bring back the America of the past which was no different from the nazis in some way, but that he needs to help build something better.
I think it also fits thematically, by making the pragmatic choice of saving Fergus over the rookie Wyatt, BJ is choosing to sacrifice the youth of the country for the future.
Heres my longshot prediction for the events of Wolfenstein 3: It’ll begin in either the Wyatt timeline, where you’ll see the 4th Reich invade through a portal to reach a world thats doesn’t have a super climate crisis. Or, you’ll be in the Fergus timeline and see the 4th reich invade and chase after them. Either way, the result will be 2 different BJs having to work together: a more cynical jaded one from the Fergus timeline, who has seen the liberated countries shirk their duties of fighting the Nazis, and the one from the Wyatt timeline, although I can’t think of what his conflict might be. Maybe he dies, and you’re forced to play as Fergus BJ and fill his shoes?

I tried to play Return to Castle Wolfenstein on Steam, and I dared to change the default resolution to one that the GAME ITSELF says you can use, and it crashed. And when I tried to load it again, it defaulted to that “broken” resolution, and gave me a console window that said it was suffering from OpenGL failures only space scientists can understand, I don’t know what to tell you, bro.
I Googled. There doesn’t seem to be a fix for this besides maybe editing config files, or uninstalling the game and reinstalling it and not touching the fucking resolution. Which is like Potato Mode 4.3, get bent, asshole.
Guys. At least have it undo the res change when it crashes. Why bother sort-of getting it running on Steam, but not really? Especially since this IP is fresh enough now for people to care? I don’t understand why you’d bother, but also not.
Fortunately, while looking for a fix, the Stram forums told me about RealRTCW, a free game on STEAM that is literally a fan-made recreation of the entire game, in Source, that supports post-90s resolutions, that is also in HD and has tons more options the OG game never had.
And it is absolutely accurate. It is how I remember this game. Like, fucking perfect.
Free. On Steam. The same platform where they’re selling the broken SD shit version. For $5.
This isn’t a mod. It’s a stand-alone Source port. That is just that game, minus the cutscene videos? Which look like shit on the paid version anyway. And we all have YouTube so…we can just look them up.
What is this ecosystem? Why? Why does no one care?
Also the OG RtCW was just in my Steam library, so that probably means I bought it like 12 years ago, probably back when it was still in 4:3 SD, but didn’t puke all over itself when I dared to change the resolution.
Delist it if you’re not going to fix it, Gaben. You aren’t Sony. You’re better than this.
Also GOG has RealRTCW, because of course they only have a version THAT FUCKING WORKS.

I’ve never played a Wolfenstein game, and I don’t plan to, everything I’ve ever learned about them has been against my will. So idk they might be Super Mega Woke or whatever but I have a deep distrust and dislike of them. Any game series that looooooves to think about The Nazis™™™ icks me tf out. Especially if they (seem to) use Nazi imagery as a universal stand in for “super mega evil fascists” (w/o looking deeper into like- the ethnic cleansing of it all) and the GOOD WORKING WHITE FOLK save the day.
