I couldn’t find any myanimelist widgets, so I made one. The second two are probably a bit impractical but they were so much fun to make.
When I had built v1 I was trying to use Jikan API, but they almost never update the recent updates section of user profiles, so I ended up making my own cloudflare worker backend, definitely less fun than making the widgets but very satisfying when it finally worked.
Having my own backend let me purge the cache for testing and get new updates every hour otherwise. I was also able to link CF to Trello and receive status reports directly to my board which was also very satisfying. I attached a couple images from the process, first was the original mockup I referenced, then the ‘first version’ of the widget.

Sounds like you guys got a problem with kids using their phones during class.
Not sure what’s going on, but I don’t see this as a problem. Kids shouldn’t be using their phones during class time anyway and they can make a phone call other ways.

Surprise!!!
Here’s another thing I’ve been putting off important stuff for working on lately: A face study of my very own robo-lady, San-D!
(I’ve only heard the term “face study” once before, so I assume that’s the right term for it. 😄)
A quick recap of San-D for those who don’t feel like searching this blog for the lore I’ve shared so far:
- She’s the latest robot to be built and programmed by Dr. Zortho
- She’s nicknamed “the curious one”
- She’s peppy, friendly, and encouraging
- She has a love for nature – especially the beach – and is particularly fascinated by sand and stars
- She has a strong curiosity for learning new things
Also, as you can see from the pictures, she has a wide range of emotions, four of which are indicated by the specific light on her forehead that’s activated (in case it wasn’t obvious from her facial expressions).
There’s yellow for surprise…
…green for joy…
…blue for sadness…
…and red for anger.
“Hey! Quit biting my style!”
It’s called paying tributes, Widget. Calm down. 😏
Her face also includes some special light features – there’s a loading symbol for when she’s thinking (or “processing”) information…
…and a symbol and percentage number to indicate her current power level.
Oh, and now you know what it looks like when she’s charging up using the solar panels in her shoulder compartments! Pretty convenient, huh? 😄 Her “blushing” is also a facial light feature, in case you were wondering where that came from.
I don’t have much else to share about her at the moment, unfortunately. As I’ve mentioned before, she’s a lot like Amy Rose in terms of personality – girly, cheery, and an uplifting presence to those around her…unless you make her angry.
She doesn’t carry a Piko Piko Hammer, thankfully, but she’s still a force to be reckoned with. I recommend staying on her good side at all costs. That’s all I’ll say. 😉
Oddly enough, I’m not entirely sure just what method I want to use to tell the story of San-D, Emil-E, and their robotic and human companions just yet – a comic strip, a video game (most likely a visual novel ‘cause I have a long way to go in my game dev skills), or something else. (Feel free to share any thoughts you may have about it with me, though. 🙂) For now, I just wanted to do some experimenting with Krita in order to (ahem) flesh out this OC of mine. Hope you like what you’ve seen of her so far! There’s plenty more of her still to come.

Oh… Okay. Is that a new term people use for “autistic,” or did they just forget to type the rest of the word?
I’m confused.
I’m not autistic myself, but I did have trouble with sensory sensitivity when I was younger, but that is because of my special ability I inherited from my dad, not because I’m on the spectrum.
It’s like claiming Daredevil can see through hearing or Toph can use the Earth to feel everyone around her because they’re blind. That’s not how it works. Daredevil is a mutant and Toph is an earthbender. Being a mutant or earthbender might be their accommodation, but they didn’t gain those abilities due to their blindness.
People on the spectrum have sensory sensitivity because that is their accommodation to pick up new information. Most people can obtain new information through hearing or sight alone, but people with Autism need multiple senses to learn the world around them.
And whatever barriers you’re dealing with, it’s always worth it to tackle them one at a time until you reach the other side! Human interaction is what makes life beautiful!
