From all the bad things I hear about TikTok, are there any controversies or negative influence that came from Vine?
I’m glad Drew did a video on No Sleep Till Christmas and finished the whole thing cuz I turned it off right as Billy and the dipshit main lady met. At least the first time I watched it. I knew they’d go the “overbearing mom” route from the beginning. I was cool with it but they didn’t lean heavily enough into the idea that he’d choose him mom over her. Sure he’s like “oh she means well” when she doesn’t but they didn’t have her overstepping boundaries enough, him defending her each time, often enough. So I just felt insulted when this really nice dude who’s only flaw is his mother was screwed out of his time and effort and love. For a char to leave another at the altar and have it be seen as good we have to dislike the ex. Which is where the overbearing mom comes in. Or she was supposed to.
And sure, we don’t always have to root for the main character. Light Yagami from Death Note was far from a hero. But we weren’t supposed to really hope Light became the death god he wanted to be. It was all in the framing and No Sleep Till Christmas didn’t frame it as Dipshit Chick as the bad guy. If it did, at least it would have that going for it.
Anyway if anyone writes fanfic where Josh gets over her and heals while Dipshit and Billy crash and burn pls tell me I wanna read it.

Boundaries and Social Media Content Creators
I wanted to talk about it since Danny Gonzalez recently did a video about paparazzi that follow around TikTok and YouTube personalities (link)
Aside from the fact that it’s just plain weird to follow around strangers, especially when they’re teenagers like Charli D'melio and Lilhuddy, it’s also overstepping a boundary or two. This isn’t Lindsay Lohan or Britney Spears, though you should respect their privacy too, these are people who make videos for fun in their rooms.
Boundaries are defined as set rules and limits someone has for acceptable behavior.
What is overstepping a boundary?
Running up to influencers with a camera and asking them a bunch of weird questions about their lives.
What isn’t overstepping a boundary?
Stopping to say ‘hi’ and leaving it at that is fine! Maybe even asking for an autograph or picture if you really like them. But do respect if they say no, especially if they’ve just gotten done doing something tiresome like travelling.
It’s fine to be excited to see your favorite internet personality in real life, but remember that they lay in bed watching tiktoks before bed just like you and me, they’re still people. A lot of them are very young too, so respect their space.
