An Thundercat habe ich in letzter Zeit einen gewissen Narren gefressen. Mir gefällt der Early Eighties Funk and Soul den Stephen Bruner aka Thundercat zuletzt so gerne und heftig zitiert. Ist für mich ein Zeitsprung zurück in eine Zeit voller Rollerskates, Mirrorballs und der Musik von etwa Shalamar und Delegation. Aktuell hat Thundercat zusammen mit Little Yachty das funkige I did it to myself am Start, Vorbote des neuen Thundercat-Albums Distracted (tbr 03.04.2026). Like it. Punktabzug gibt’s lediglich für die echt miese Industrieblende am Ende von I did it to myself.
Watch Thundercat and WILLOW tap into the souls of George Duke and Pat Metheny for an Amazon Music showcase of “Thunderwave.” Dennis Hamm’s atmospheric keyboards take the sounds out of the realm of fusion and into quiet storm territory. The single is taken from Thundercat’s upcoming Distracted album, and he was pretty happy about working with WILLOW. He says,
“Willow, the weeping, the whimsy, the whispy, the wizard. Grateful for the opportunity to create and spend time with such a beautiful human. Our journey together has been quite a fun one. Creating this song together felt very much like the real us. So happy to be able to share.”

Esta fue una de las últimas colaboraciones entre dos amigos cercanos, un tema que quedó pendiente de lanzar tras la muerte de Mac Miller en 2018.
Thundercat presenta “She Knows Too Much (feat. Mac Miller)”, nuevo single y videoclip de su próximo álbum “Distracted”, que se publicará el 3 de Abril. Elegida como Hottest Record en BBC Radio 1, la canción reúne de forma emotiva a dos amigos y colaboradores cercanos, dando nueva vida a una grabación completada junto al productor Greg Kurstin con el consentimiento del legado de Mac Miller, fallecido en 2018. El tema captura la química natural entre ambos artistas: la voz despreocupada de Mac Miller y el bajo cálido junto al falsete característico de Thundercat crean una atmósfera íntima y nostálgica. El lanzamiento llega acompañado de un videoclip animado dirigido por Léa Esmaili, que celebra la amistad y la imaginación a través de una narrativa visual lúdica que mezcla animación 2D y 3D. Este nuevo adelanto refuerza el universo de “Distracted”, un álbum que explora la tensión entre la saturación de estímulos contemporánea y la introspección personal. Con colaboraciones de WILLOW, Channel Tres y A$AP Rocky, el disco se perfila como una reflexión sobre el ruido del presente y la creatividad como refugio, consolidando el regreso de Thundercat con uno de sus trabajos más personales y ambiciosos hasta la fecha.
