#Jammu : With Just Days Away From Assembly Polls ; Militants Fire At Sunjawan Military Station
An army personnel was critically injured when suspected terrorists opened fire on a sentry post of an army camp reported PTI , officials said as a massive search operation is underway to track down and neutralize the gunmen.
The attacks comes just ahead of the The first Jammu and Kashmir Assembly election in a decade which will be held in three phases on September 18, 25 and October 1, the Election Commission of India had announced earlier ,
A defence spokesman said that a few rounds were fired at the Sunjawan Military Station in the outskirts of Jammu at around 10.50 am, resulting in critical injuries to a soldier.
Operation has been launched and further details being ascertained, the spokesman said without giving details about the assailants who fired on the sentry post.
Earlier in February 2018, the terrorists attacked the Sunjawan military camp resulting in the killing of six soldiers, a civilian and three terrorists

According to PTI, The terrorists hurled a grenade and opened fire targeting Army vehicles which were on a routine patrol on the Machedi-Kindli-Malhar road at around 3.30 pm near Badnota village in Lohai Malhar, 150 km from Kathua town.
Reacting to the terror attack, Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference Vice- president Omar Abdullah took to X and wrote , Terrible news from Kathua. It’s a very bad day when you lose four brave army personnel in the line of duty. I condemn the attack unequivocally and send my heartfelt condolences to the families. I hope the injured make a swift & complete recovery.
Security forces retaliated but the terrorists fled into the nearby forest, the officials said, adding an intermittent exchange of firing was going on between the terrorists and security forces when the last reports were received.
“A total of 10 troopers were injured and four of them later succumbed to their injuries,” an official said.
This was the second major incident in Kathua district in the past four weeks.
On June 12 and 13, two terrorists and a Central Reserve Police Force jawan were killed in a fierce gunfight during a search and cordon operation.

Many people will pause today to honor the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and reflect on the permanent emotional toll the tragedy inflicted on the nation. A total of 2,753 people were reported missing in lower Manhattan after the attacks on the World Trade Center. To this day, 40% of the victims, or about 1,100 people thought to have died in the disaster, remain unidentified. New York City officials last week identified two new victims through DNA testing, and the work is ongoing to identify others as their loved ones continue to grieve.
