i believe this was my first time drinking japanese oolong. when i saw it at the eshop, i was like “oh, i need to try this” and added it to the cart. i also liked the artwork.. not surprising. i hate to see that they use ai slop on tea packaging nowadays. it looks like it happens with compressed tea the most, like tea bricks or tea cakes. i havent seen it irl yet, only on the internet, and i absolutely despise it. why would i want something like that, why would i even consider buying it? i like to keep my tea packagings, im not exactly a collector, but maybe i will turn into one in the future, who knows!!

Tea poll #530. What should I drink tomorrow night?

Lemon, Ginger & Manuka Honey

Brigadoon Breakfast

Ti Kuan Yin

Andoria

Cherry Marzipan Oolong

Coconut Oolong

Last winner was Almond Oolong

This had the typical smooth feeling in the mouth that I expect of an oolong, and then the wonderfully sweet nuttiness of almond. It does not taste like marzipan, but I’ll wager the almond flavor is artificial. It lacks the sort of….raw earthiness you’d expect from an almond. But this is indeed tasty!

Tonight’s teas.

Lemon, Ginger & Manuka Honey
Brigadoon Breakfast
Ti Kuan Yin
Andoria
Cherry Marzipan Oolong
Coconut Oolong

Thanks for helping me get rid of the tea! :)

Dozy Girl (Bird & Blend)

Type: Chamomile + Loose Leaf

Brewing Time: 6 minutes.

Milk/Sugar/Honey: No.

My thoughts:

Just opening it made my hayfever screech…the whole thing is flowers. Unsurprisingly, it’s a floral tea. It’s also on the sweeter side. I’m not a lover. I could have brewed it for less time, but I wouldn’t say it would have changed much. The flavour wasn’t overpowering. The smell once I removed the tea leaves…was. The tea itself wasn’t that strong scent-wise, but the smell from the tea leaves made me feel like I forgot to take my hayfever medicine.

However…when it comes to sleep teas, I judge them slightly differently. I’m not drinking them for the taste, but rather for a little help falling asleep. This one does that job just fine, actually. It’s probably mostly placebo, but after I drank it, I did start to feel tired. And hey, even if it is placebo, if it does the job I want it to do, and it’s not awful to drink, then it’s fine.

Also, “Dozy Girl”? That wasn’t a doze, I was out like a light. That was probably the best sleep I’ve had in a while.

Rating:

4/5. puts me to sleep and kept me asleep. Would probably be a 5/5 if I liked sweet teas.

Apple Strudel (Bird & Blend)

Type: Rooibos + Loose Leaf

Brewing Time: 4 minutes

Milk/Sugar/Honey?: No

My thoughts:

Starts off slightly sweet, with a hint of apple, then transforms into a surprisingly refreshing cinnamon. Incredibly nice in the winter, and also incredibly nice as it’s started to warm up. Cinnamon and apple isn’t a summer flavour, though, so I’ll probably avoid it when summer comes around.

Admittedly, I’m not a lover of teas on the sweeter side. Whilst I do drink sweet teas, they are few and far between. I wouldn’t particularly call this a sweet tea, but it’s definitely far sweeter than what I’m used to. I’m also not a lover of cinnamon. It doesn’t ruin it by any means. Because of these factors, though, it’s not one I could really drink more than once a day.

Rating:

6/10 - It’s one I’d buy again, but only in autumn/winter.

Rich. He/Him.

This is for a bit of fun, where I’m going to post about the teas I drink, and my thoughts on them.

If you’ve come here for professionalism, you are definitely in the wrong place.

Considering the fact this blog is about tea, I don’t have any sort of DNI. Just don’t be weird.

Last winner was Gunpowder

This is a fun tea because of how the tiny pellets open up into giant tea leaves. It’s a surprisingly mellow yet flavorful green, and…unfortunately, it’s lacking the fired-gun almost metallic flavor I’m used to from a gunpowder tea! It’s lightly astringent and there is an ever so faint sense of grassy smoke high on the palate immediately after taking a sip, but nothing like what I’ve had from other sources. I’ll have to compare this one to the other gunpowder I have in my cupboard. It’s still very tasty!

Andoria
Cherry Marzipan Oolong
Coconut Oolong

Last winner was Blueberry Lavender

This tea is as delicious as it sounds! The blueberry is sweet, and its tartness is cut by the gentle floral essence of lavender. The two flavors are perfectly balanced in this wonderful herbal blend. There’s also faint, familiar citrus notes like lemongrass. An absolute win!

Aaah I just booked the plane tickets and the accommodation for my trip to Dublin this spring.

It’s the first time I’m taking a multiple days solo trip in a place I’ve never been to, and I’m anxious and I know I’m going to regret it before I leave and be happy about it when I come back and it’s by far the most expensive trip I’ve ever booked but it’s done! And it’s non-refundable, so it’s offical :)

Speaking of that, if you have bookish/tea-ish (?) recommendations, tips for solo introverted travelers im Ireland and more, please send them my way
