Have any of you dropped a class before? How do you know if it’s time to drop it or not?
Hey guys!
On the off chance that there is anyone that can offer me some insight!
I am trying to narrow down which area I will do my honours dissertation in - English or History - but I’m still really torn and in a perfect world would like to do both! My advisors have cautioned me against combining the two as it adds so much extra work and scheduling. My history advisor said the people he has watched do it he has ended up feeling sorry for as it’s always ended up being a disadvantage to them. I don’t want to ignore their guidance so will probably try and narrow it down.
Before I commit - to probably English - is there anyone out there that’s combined two majors for their honours dissertation? What was your experience? Would you caution me against it too? Or anyone whose done honours and gone on to do PhD, what was your honours experience like and what would you advise? I would love to pick your brain and get as much advice as I can! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Stay safe and be kind,
Love Bean xxx
this next few months witll be the hardest yet. i will have my graduation tests, i need to make my graduation art project and do so mamy papers regarding art history (26 questions, usually about 4 pages long), art technology (25 questions, 2-3 pages long) and literature (20 books, 1 page) and i need to learn them all. i will also have university test regarding art history on two different schools and anniversary with my boyfriend. im thinking about pulling 3 all-nighters every week to learn everything and make my project, but i still think thats not enough
I have to write a two page essay on any art piece from prehistoric to 1400 ce. It’s been a few days but I’m having a hard time finding one I can write on. It can’t be something that our book talked about and our book mentioned most of the famous ones. I wanna find something like stonehenge (not necessarily prehistoric, but intriguing) so I can put my own interpretations into it. I’d prefer to write and learn about non-western art but at this point, I’ll take anything because my deadline is in a few days and I didn’t even start! please comment any interesting art piece within this time period.
is there anyone here who listens to podcasts? literature or any other genre would do !! litreading guys doesn’t soothe me, he makes me feel like i’m in a tv show halp
ive never studied with someone else before 👉🏻👈🏻 does anyone hace study buddies tips esp virtually 👉🏻👈🏻
as someone who’s main academic strength is paying attention in class, online classes suck coz there is nothing to pay attention to. like i get it, it’s not easy to teach walls to teach into a camera but as someone who has gone from top of the class to almost failing my mid terms, i would like another alternative
Is there an ios app for blocking out only CERTAIN apps? I have apps on my phone like gallery, Evernote, quizlet that I really have to openwhile studying, but I do get distracted from other apps 😭😭. I tried looking through the app store, but all of them just block ALL apps ;-;
PRODUCTIVITY TIPS FOR QUARANTINE…
I only have a few because productivity
shockinglyis not my strong suit, but please feel free to add any tips you’ve got. Let’s get this chain started!
BLOCKSITE: BlockSite is an extension/add-on for Firefox (and probably other web browsers) that allows you to block certain sites during certain times of day, which is invaluable if you work from home like I do. And a lot of people are working from home at the moment. You can create a schedule during which you want it to be active. There’s also a setting called “Work Mode” which sets a 25min timer (with three available breaks) if you just want to get something small out of the way. It requires a fair amount of self-restraint to use, but once you get in the habit it really becomes invaluable.
POMODORO TECHNIQUE: The Pomodoro Technique is a popular time management method that breaks work time down into intervals of 25min, between which are short, scheduled breaks. In my experience, it’s a really good way to motivate yourself by feeling productive each time you complete an interval.
BACKGROUND NOISES: This one isn’t an obscure tip by any means, but those of you out there with sensory issues or AD(H)D (like me) might have a hard time finding the right ambience to help you focus. I can’t listen to anything with words in it or any kind of sharp, sudden noise (glasses clinking, mouse clicking, chair moving, etc) and it can’t have a clear emotion behind it (which rules out most music). So the two things I’ve settled on that I’ve been using for probably well over a year now are train sounds and no-singing Mozart playlists.
So mini update and some questions.
I will most likely delete this tumblr to make a new one or leave this one and just create a new one. I am finally returning to classes this summer online. I am right now getting my associates in STEM. Summer is just public speaking to get it done with then I’ll really only have stem electives and a couple social science requirements left. I just got an ipad for christmas and was wanting some app suggetions for things like note taking. I have a pencil. I also use the rocketbook everlast which i love but I want to get a place to annotate once the notes are scanned in if needed and annotate a pdf if needed. I also want to set up a digital bullet journal. I’m gonna max the amount i will pay for an app at $10. Just leave suggestions here. I’ll work on the setting up another tumblr later today.

Personally, I am someone who works best in the library. Now, however, my uni has closed and the rest of teaching will be delivered online. Does anyone have any tips for how to stay motivated at home??

hi studyblr community !! does anyone have any tips on how to study for government classes ? my fed. constitution class is mostly readings and i’m never really sure how to take notes for them — any advice is greatly appreciated !
hey, hi, are any of you well versed in basic micro econ. principles? I have an exam on friday and I am well and truly fucked
hey everyone! i kind of have a problem that i would like your feedback on:
my English Midterm is next Wednesday (October 16) and my professor just gave us the info for the Midterm—except his information was “everything you need is assigned in the syllabus” and “the structure of the exam is in syllabus”
i’ve talked to other people in my class, and we have no idea how to study for this exam! anytime we tried to ask more detailed questions, he’d say “it’s what’s assigned on the syllabus” and all that’s assigned on the syllabus are our poems, plays, and epics we’ve read—and it’s a lot of material for only a week of preparation!
so, if anyone has tips about how to go about studying for this exam, or anything else, please please please reach out!!!
hi guys! I need your advice! I’m nearly done with my studies in my masters program, there’s only one more semester to go. Since I haven’t posted at all last semester, i’m wondering whether it is still of any use for me to keep this account. Also, since I got a new job and now spent most of my free time working and studying, i’m not sure if it is such a good idea to keep track of this. So the time may have come to say goodbye to this tumblr… Even though I really love this account and it’ll be kind of sad to delete it… What do you guys think? When is a good time to let go?
