I was wondering what the background would be for one of the next paintings. Luckily there are those walking in the rain videos that gave me plenty of locations and reference materials to choose from. In the end I chose this crosswalk in Ginza. The street reflections were something I was worried about, but after trying it out a number of ways it all started to work out. Some of the proportions weren’t really working out once I started to compare it to the subject of this painting but it was something I could fix as I went along.

thought that I genuinely just had looking at a stoplight: huh, weird that one of the colors is much more brightly illuminated than the two others…..

Though clearly marked with a stop sign AND a stoplight, Mother Nature did not stop the snow, bringing another snowstorm this afternoon on top of what we had last night and all morning!
