Take me away on your
Tangerine Wings-
You ungraceful princess,
Orange skirts fluttering around your ankles,
As you dark eyes face the heavens,
You said something like,
“Hey isn’t spring just the best?”
But I wasn’t really listening,
I was paying attention to the way you were walking,
Unsure of each wobbly step,
Teetering in those ladies’ heels-
They don’t suit you at all, do they?
You clementine angel,
You’d look better perched on a petal,
I could just see you
Singing as you dance
Through the shimmering golden dust
That ignites the start of spring.

Relieve stress and cool your body with the healing, anti-inflammatory, detoxifying benefits of chamomile and calendula in a scrub!
Relieve stress and cool your body with the healing, anti-inflammatory, detoxifying benefits of chamomile and calendula in a scrub!
Provides soothing aromatherapy, glycolic acid
Grit: Medium
Best for: Face, lip, feet, hands but safe for entire body
4oz jar (3.5oz nt wt) = 16 uses, minimum.
Rinses clean from your shower
100% biodegradable, vegan, natural, & organic
Shelf Life is min. 1 Year
Ingredients: sugar, koshers salt, polysorbate 80, grapeseed oil, chamomile essential oil, chamomile dried, calendula dried, Otiphen ND [organic preservative] (Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid)
How it works:
Calendula - A nutrition packed anti-inflammatory, healing powerhouse. One of the strongest anti-viral herbs known to humans. Also highly anti-bacterial. Packed with flavanoids and other anti-oxidants. It’s flower extracts are also known to sooth muscle spasms, constipation, and as such PMS and PCOS related symptoms. Speeds healing, even in slow healing wounds and ulcers. An animal study saw 90% wound closure (healing) in 8 days with calendula topicals vs 51% closure with the no treatment control. Supports circulation and blood flow to applied areas.
Sugar - Its a natural humectant, drawing moisture from the environment into the skin. A natural source of glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that penetrates the skin and breaks down the “glue” that bonds skin cells, encouraging cell turnover and generating fresher, younger-looking skin. Glycolic acid is typically used to treat sun-damaged and aging skin. Sugar is an excellent physical and chemical exfoliant. 100% biodegradable. Provides a refreshed skin appearance. Helps maintain skin’s oil balance. Contains high levels of vitamin B6, manganese, pantothenic acid, magnesium, potassium, iron, niacin, thiamine, iron, calcium, copper, and selenium
Vitamin E - Sometimes called the “skin vitamin,” has excellent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and skin healing properties, which make it a great natural remedy for various skin and hair concerns. Extracted from various plants. Gives a powerful antioxidant boost to any product. Serves as a natural preservative for oils as it preserves your tissues - antioxidation. Sun protectant - prevents sun burn development. Sun protection works best with vitamin c rich ingredients. Soothes dry chapped skin, lips, & dry cuticles. Heals scars - makes skin resistant to scarring and damage from abrasion or incision. Treats eczema.
Agave - In Mexican tradition, it’s known to help reduce wrinkles, and build strength, resiliency, and elasticity to the hair. It’s usually sold in nectar form, a thick brown syrup. It’s naturally high in calcium, isoflavonoid, alkaloids, coumarin and vitamins B1, B2, C, D and K, and provitamin A. It’s also home to a substance called saponins. They’re natural surfactants, cleaners that help break down dirt and oils. They’re also one of the best known natural stimulants of hyaluronic acid.
Instructions
Get your skin wet with warm water. Get about 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of scrub and splash it with warm water. Apply directly to area. Rub into your skin gently, letting the scrub do the work. Once you’re done, let it sit for a few minutes then rinse. The sitting isn’t necessary but it will allow for greater nutrient transmission. Follow with Anti-Aging Face Oil or one of my amazing butters.
Why exfoliate?
Have you ever taken a really good shower, gotten out, and felt amazingly clean only to rub your hand over your leg or arm and realize, “holy crap, I’m still dirty.” That is a sign you need to exfoliate. That’s a sign your outermost layer of skin is not releasing itself the way it should be. This isn’t something wrong with you in fact it’s very common. Even children have this issue.
When we create new layers of skin underneath our topmost layer, the outer layer skin is supposed to slowly “rough” off. Sometimes that doesn’t happen, though. Sometimes, you’ll notice patches of old skin that you need to pull. Sometimes, you’ll notice really thick rough patches, maybe on your hands or feet. You may also notice changes in complexion like on the back of your neck, elbow or knee. All of these are signs of compacted dead skin. Exfoliation helps keep all that in check.

This is a mixed media piece I finished around this time last year. It’s been on my mind off and on lately. Thinking about how it started as a nice spring painting of magnolia blossoms that I was really proud of, painting while listening to The Adventure Zone podcast, a good, nice thing. But there was this black heaviness in my mind, too, at the time. Things were not good and nice. I think of this piece as “Spring 2020.” Feel free to scroll back a ways in my Instagram grid to see what else I had to say about it then. It goes along with the Morning Writing from One Year Ago Today I’ve been sharing on my Tumblr page. A new post every day through this coming Wednesday of just what was going on in my head, home, community, world at the time of Quarantine. The link is in my bio or go to craftadventuresstudio.tumblr.com to catch up on it all.
My worktable is pretty clear now. I’ve gotten through the not-messy projects and I think I’m ready to put the plastic table cloth on and prepare for more messy works. I hope to do more mixed media soon. That pile at the end of the table are things meant for messier things. I’ve got a cross stitch pattern and supplies that I need to figure out what to do with until I’m ready to start that. And then there’s the ever-present but always different in-progress dicebag. I’ll toss it on the settee, out of the way. Not that that matters to you. I’m just sayin’ …
