Cinder Fall testing out some Valentine’s Day Lipstick on the Prince of Vale
Art done by @razin_bee over on Twitter(x)
Lore Bits
Around Valentine’s Day many cosmetic companies within the Empire of Vale and its Provinces sell limited edition makeup items with ingredients from the Saamraajy of Yesmiejan an island located off the west coast of Virtus in The Cauldron. The exotic ingredients used are a favourite among the imperial aristocracy as they adore showing off their wealth to the commoners by using non-local items.
Cinder Fall is no stranger to makeup, having developed a fondness for beauty products after leaving her cruel stepfamily behind, she had come to embrace her femininity her own way, without the overbearing whip of her stepmother, but within Vale she has come to learn that her fiancé, the Prince of Vale Henri, prefers natural beauty over artificial.
But that doesn’t stop her from wearing makeup when she wants to.

(hey guys, this is a reupload since we forgot a detail in the pic that I didn’t notice until later)
This art piece is done by the fantastic MiChumi over on Twitter(X), so go check them out when you can.
Happy belated Lunar New Year (or Chinese New Year if that’s your flavour), tis the Year of the Honse so act like a mustang and start prancing through the year at a pace that best suits you 🥂.
This one and the next piece (Valentine’s Day) are going to be a bit late but once these are done I’ll be working with MiChumi on more RWBY: Kingdoms couples, continuing with Team RWBY so be on the look out for that in the future.
Lore Bits
In RWBY: Kingdoms the Lunar New Year holiday dates back millions of years, as such a practice was first observed among the Alfur (Elves) of Viy’toal (Vytal) before their people started following the Phoenix, Belor'ah, as they viewed all celestial bodies in reverence and celebrated both Solar and Lunar new years. After they started following Belor'ah, the Alfur began to focus more on celebrating the Solar New Year over the Lunar and it remained as such from the Great Apocalypse (Year 3,000,000,000 - 3,000,999,999 of the Elder Age) until Mankind’s Rebellion (Year 3,000,999,999 - 4,000,000,000 of the Elder Age), thousands of years later which saw their Phoenix King killed trying to bring Mankind back under their domain and their people sundered while trying to elect a new king from their High Houses.
When the Alfur High Houses could not come to an agreement, they had all splintered from the Alfur people, sundering them into many new ones. One such peoples were the Viður of House Vindur, the Alfur of the Forests or Wood Elves, who sailed east to Austur’toal and built their magical well, Skantakor, within their forested city of Skógurmar. The Viður were opposite of the rest of the Alfur and their sundered kin as they did not worship Belor'ah, the Phoenix, but instead chose to follow Ugla’ah, the Moon Owl and would primarily celebrate the Lunar New Year from then on.
The Viður would continue to live on in general isolation, with few Princes and Princesses making their way to Viy'toal to try and claim the Alfur throne for their House, until the arrival Man, Hunter, Faunus and other races who left the failed Kingdom of Man had brought them to the east. The Viður would help these refugees carve a home in the vast eastern jungles, sharing technologies, customs and practices such as the Lunar New Year, but their kindness would be thrown away once the War of Three Kins began and would end with the Viður all but extinct.
The Kingdom of Humanity that would arise in the east, the Kingdom of the Heavenly Wind would continue to practice celebrating Lunar New Years from then on, eventually bringing it to the western Remnant Imperium once the two powers had met, and over the years the Lunar New Year would remain a staple of eastern culture going well into the Fifth Age where Vale’s Mistrali populace would celebrate it zealously within the Imperial Capital, oftentimes grabbing the attentions of all who come, including the Crown-Prince, Henri and his fiancée, Cinder Fall, who holds the holiday especially close due to it being a holiday she remembers celebrating with her mother, before her passing.
