Gambit and Jubilee go to a tattoo parlor in the middle of the day, and Rogue has questions.

Gambit rolled his neck, as though he was getting stiff.
Rogue was half tempted to break it.
“You brought a teenager to get a tattoo?” she snapped.
He grinned, unperturbed.
“Was gonna be here anyway.”
Rogue narrowed her eyes at him.
“Dude, I’m old enough. And I have an ‘adult’ with me.”
“Oh really? Where you hidin’ them?”
Gambit’s grin widened.
“It’s fine.” Jubilee nodded to her arm. “Good, huh?”
The tattoo was some character or other that Rogue thought she had seen before.
“That Pokachu?”
Four sets of eyes looked at her like she was insane.
“Uh. Poka-who?”
“That ain’t its name?”
“No, it isn’t.”
“This ain’t either in case you were gonna ask.”
Gambit’s eyes twinkled as he indicated his arm, where Mat was tattooing beautiful script that read “Belladonna.”
“That your memaw or somethin’?” Rogue scoffed.
Gambit snorted.
“Non, this is definitely not ma memère," he emphasized.
"Your mama?”
“Don’t have one, ma chèrie.”
Rogue felt her jaw drop.
“You- What?”
“Oh shit. I didn’t realize that,” Jubilee cut in. “Sorry.”
“Merci.”
Rogue blinked at him.
“I- Didn’t realize that neither.”
Gambit shrugged.
“I’ve got two,” Rogue offered. “Well, three.”
Jubilee’s eyebrows went up.
“You don’t want none o’ them,” Rogue rambled. “Promise.”
Jubilee gave her a “WTF?” look.
Rogue winced.
“Sorry.”

Idk what kind of Romy fans you come across because while I’m always up for debate or talk about them I just know there are certain fans both individually and as a couple that could care less about what fans -like myself- have to say bc it’s already there 🤷♀️ there is a difference between having a reasonable rational debate and just being an ahole to which one thinks they knows it all and not really wanting to hear what others have to say or be wanting to see things differently in a possible sense
And I completely agree with most of everything you mentioned especially with his own character while yes I did exaggerate a bit but it’s true it’s right there most of the time and while yes they have an off n again on again thing and it seems to my knowledge of the history it’s become a tug a war thing with them and that while Gambit was dealing with his own demons and ghosts yes 95% of the time he wasn’t thinking about Rogue but it doesn’t mean he never forgotten her even if it’s to the point of making it like he’s just a womanizing douche (cause come on Gambit fans will probably never admit the dude is a giant softie)
And no he didn’t stop living his life when he wasn’t with her not at all but also I feel like certain fans will leave out the Rogue part so easily because it’s just easier to see Gambit as a playboy alone wolf thing when we know he isn’t
Relationships of their caliber are so complex that it seems people want to rip the two whether it’s as a couple or worse as individuals and still say they’re fans of them even to the point of ignoring things to which makes the fans look crazier to be liking them and to which some find this kind of coupling boring or annoying :3
And I’m like there are literally worse x men couples to be really more upset about (old or new) than these two but it’s easier for the fans to do so because they’re so iconic

The most disrespectful thing i think a fan of a character or franchise can do is sit there and ignore the story/characters background that has been laid out for ages to validate that they want the said character to be a gooning house wife.
This all fine and dandy in fannon but when you are blatantly discussing cannon and going off on fellow fans of characters to justify your ship all because they bring up facts that dont align with your fannon view of a character is a bit ridiculous.
And this is when maybe just maybe if you cant handle fans discussing the character you should probaly step back and learn more about the character before joining one of the oldest fanbases around.
Some fan bases have been around since the 70s and sometimes you bite off a bit more than you can chew when ya delve into em.

I’m not forcing anything
Just simply telling it how it is and how people in the Marvel takes others opinions or actual truth from the comics so personal

Are you sure youre not just acclimated to a culture that normalizes men treating their women partners as objects instead of people. Are you sure your not just mad that a man in fiction is unabashedly and enthusiastically in love with his wife. What exactly is your issue with men acting devoted and caring because im not gonna lie saying any man is a simp because he likes his wife is ENORMOUS misogyny energy.
Here’s a cool fact for you. You can hate a ship and not have a reason. Like just say you prefer rogueneto and youre jealous that romy is canon right now and getting tons of attention bc of rivals.
