Premise: The series follows Keith as he plays an online game as the summoner class. That’s it. There’s really nothing more to it.
This was easily one of the most boring first volumes I’ve ever read. It’s filled with stat screens and item descriptions. I’d say about half the pages are dedicated to just that. There were also these baffling parts where a blank line was entered before a new paragraph, as it if to indicate a new scene, but the same scene just continued on. It kept on taking me out and I really don’t know why these were there. There was no consistency as to when they would happen. I wondered if it was just a formatting issue with the ebook or if maybe it was indicate what the chapters were in the web novel, but sometimes there would only be like three paragraphs before the weird gap so I can’t imagine either of those explanations fit.
Keith is such a boring main character and none of the ensemble cast are particularly interesting either. There is a wolf but he doesn’t do anything particularly cute or interesting. I’d say that the epilogue is the best part of the book as it finally introduces the girls on the cover and is from their perspective, but even that chapter has this weird formatting.
I truly was so bored while reading this. I guess if you’re the kind of person who likes straight forward video game light novels with a lot of stat screens, you might enjoy this.
