Marquetry cabinet on stand

From the museum’s item description:
The ten images you see on the interior and doors of this cabinet are based on photographs that Chuck Sharbaugh has taken during his travels across the United States. Although they may look like paintings, the images are made up of stained pieces of wood and were assembled using a technique called marquetry.
Marquetry, which gained popularity in Europe in the late 16th century, involves cutting thin sheets of wood into intricate shapes and affixing them to a surface.
Born in 1945, Sharbaugh is based in Holly, Michigan. In 1975 he received a BFA in ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art. A woodworker by trade, he has been creating studio furniture for nearly twenty years.
