Job hunting Sucks
So where does a guy who has 15 years restaurant / 20 years retail experience go for a job that involves less physical work, but uses the skills I have collected..?
It’s been two months that I’ve been looking for work, it’s rough, and I’ve had tons of interviews. This morning, I had one wit Lowe’s to work in their garden area, and at the last minute, they cancelled it. This is getting frustrating for me. I got sick in December, started a job for a few days, then got even more sick. Now that I’m doing fine, the searching is just, it’s not making me feel great.
Job sites are fucking awful. Every offer has hundreds of applicants, you have no chance, even with the experience I have;
(cooking, cleaning, accounting, inventory, human resources, customer service, sales, merchandising).
At home, the kids are telling me not to worry about it so much, but how can I not feel like I suck when I am unable to help and do my part? I clean, I do whatever I can around the house, but I also spend a few hours each day, filling out applications, and going to a few interview every week, of they call.
I’ve been trying to also find something I could do at home, and that’s kind of ridiculous, too. A lot of the freelance and gig type jobs want you to pay them to get involved. I’m trying to find money, dude. I don’t have it to join a website…
