I wish being forthcoming about mental health impacting your career was something that got sympathy and a foot in the door with employers. Ah, depression, asd, cptsd, and social anxiety makes you feel so observed (negative) in the workplace that you regularly showed up late and worked late to delay being around coworkers and work without them present respectively at best, and have panic attacks and flee the workplace in terror or not reach it at all at worst? But you’ve been promoted both times you worked remotely? I understand, please work with us. no such fucking luck

Job hunting Sucks

So where does a guy who has 15 years restaurant / 20 years retail experience go for a job that involves less physical work, but uses the skills I have collected..?

It’s been two months that I’ve been looking for work, it’s rough, and I’ve had tons of interviews. This morning, I had one wit Lowe’s to work in their garden area, and at the last minute, they cancelled it. This is getting frustrating for me. I got sick in December, started a job for a few days, then got even more sick. Now that I’m doing fine, the searching is just, it’s not making me feel great.

Job sites are fucking awful. Every offer has hundreds of applicants, you have no chance, even with the experience I have;

(cooking, cleaning, accounting, inventory, human resources, customer service, sales, merchandising).

At home, the kids are telling me not to worry about it so much, but how can I not feel like I suck when I am unable to help and do my part? I clean, I do whatever I can around the house, but I also spend a few hours each day, filling out applications, and going to a few interview every week, of they call.

I’ve been trying to also find something I could do at home, and that’s kind of ridiculous, too. A lot of the freelance and gig type jobs want you to pay them to get involved. I’m trying to find money, dude. I don’t have it to join a website…

Which platform will actually move your career forward this year, and which one is just noise?

This roundup focuses on learner-facing sites for taking courses — not tools for creating them. It aims to help U.S. professionals pick a platform for upskilling, career mobility, or team training with clear, practical advice.

We review Udemy, Coursera, edX, Skillshare, and LinkedIn Learning on the same scale: features, drawbacks, suitability, course selection, certificate credibility, and pricing. The evaluation centers on quality, price, usability, and real-world outcomes.
