I’ve wondered if I would get this question!
So, Garcia first admits to herself that she has feelings—strong, undeniable romantic feelings—when she’s leaving her apartment and Santos doesn’t kiss her goodbye. It’s such a small thing, but it hurts because she really wanted that intimacy from her, the casual gesture of, “I want to kiss you for no other reason than to show I care”
And then, fast forward to the breakup and reconciliation, it almost becomes this warning from Garcia—Kiss me goodbye… or kiss me goodbye. As in, give me your heart, all of it (as represented through this soft act) or I’ll have to leave (because I deserve more)
I loved the play on words and double meaning that’s both joyous and heartbreaking. It felt fitting for what the story would encapsulate
