A native to Japan, Pinus parviflora (Japanese white pine) is a broadly conical evergreen tree which becomes more spreading when old. It has fine, blue-green needles in groups of five. This large specimen was at Edinburgh Botanic Garden, Scotland.

Potted up 8 seeds from what I believe is this Catalina Island Pine. Hope they grow! Would love some of these slender, tall wonders.

I broke down yesterday. For a while now, maybe about a few years, I’ve been suffering with what I assume to be Depersonalization Derealization Disorder. Now I don’t have a diagnosis, but doing my own research that’s what I’ve come up with. I don’t know what finally set it off, but I remember when.
It was late at night and my family and I was watching Inside Out 2, I was laid across the bed. After the movie we had to work on laundry, as I stood up - everything felt like it shifted. I was watching myself move from behind my eyes. Since then it’s been like waves on a beach ebbing and flowing, somedays it’s worse and others not so bad. But nonetheless it has remained by my side since.
Back to yesterday, I went to fill the food bowl for my dog. We had two full bags that we kept in a storage tub on the front porch and when I opened it I found mold. We didn’t have any more dog food. So I was upset, overwhelmed, and blamed myself. I shut myself back up in my room, and hit myself. I couldn’t help but to cry.
I kept beating myself down further and further, it had been so long since I broke down. Spiraling seems to be one of the few things that I genuinely believe to be inherently good at. After that I just wanted to go on a walk.
I went on a walk today.

A week ago, it was sunny and warm enough to traverse the snow in just a hoodie, and today it’s snowing again, and we might get a million feet.
