Okay just saw the PHM movie and I want to talk about aromantic Grace and aromantic Strat and their bond with Strat also maybe being aplatonic!!!!!
Talking to my dad about Project Hail Mary (he is like ¼ of the way through) and he made the point that he doesn’t find Grace’s suicide mission as sad as other Doomed Voyages in sci-fi because, “at some point, he made the decision to go, knowing how it would end” and I didn’t reveal Anything

I just saw Project Hail Mary and oh my god! It’s incredible! The cinematography is gorgeous, it was hilarious and emotional all at the same time. I actually found myself crying at times. I can’t recommend it enough. I already plan on seeing it 10 more times in the theater.

(This review is mainly for book readers but I will not spoil any part of the story for all parties who found this post)
That’s the main thing.
I felt like it got the major story beats down very well, they did the drama amazingly.
They also used a ton of new jokes, they adhere to the humor in the book but the new jokes are amazing and encapsulate the dynamics well. It also makes it fresh for book-readers
I cried twice.
This is more for the non-book viewers. If you want more details, highly recommend the book. It really immerses you in the world, you get a lot more moments between the MCs. And the side characters get some more time to shine too and it definitely raises the emotional stakes of the story. It also gives you more explanation of the science and why the problems are problems as well as how they get to the solutions that the movie glosses over.
This is propaganda to get you people to read the book because it’s amazing!
They also added a few more scenes that I thought were so much fun and elevated the story well.
Overall it’s a really good adaptation for the time constraint of a movie. Made me laugh, made me cry, loved it
