So, this one is actually quite interesting to me. I did get an ask from supposedly the anon who “exposed” this with an explanation, and from what I can see it does check out. I have a draft with more on otter’s many potential aliases and tumblr accounts but I’ll add a bit here because I think it’s interesting.
There was an account (now banned) with the current username Howl’s Moving Castle (985794). A fun way to track people’s past usernames is quotes, because these don’t usually update when someone changes. If someone quotes themselves in their trade thread and doesn’t clear their posts, you can usually find them all there.
The HMC account does have an extensive trade thread, and that account has gone through a really crazy amount of usernames; I skimmed and I found, from newest to oldest, Green Goblin, La Quack, Lowfiwaves, Hufflepuffgirl, The cat returns, Juice WRLD, Dry Bones, Cherry Candy, Dr. Teals, Crash Bandicoot, Ginger Tea, Khai Dreams, Corgislove, and NightShiftGmoey. A few of these (namely Dry Bones, Hufflepuffgirl, and Green Goblin) have been mentioned on the old saltblog - they also had a reputation for being a notorious scammer.
The accusation from this anon was that one of the alternative saltblogs, csteasippers, was run by otter; their evidence was that csteasippers seemingly forgot to switch accounts one time while responding to a post about a DIFFERENT blog, notreallycs, signing off a post as “cherry”. As you can see, Cherry Candy is a past username of HMC and the same user ID is shared in this ask.
I’m not saying it’s 100% proven, but here is my reasoning for believing that otter is HMC and csteasippers and notreallycs:
- Consistent typing patterns across the HMC account, csteasippers, notreallycs, and otter’s current account, as well as the tessgirly blog that was trying to convince people not to report otter a few months back.
- otter’s current CS account was created within 2 months after the HMC account was banned.
- otter is well-known for vocally disliking Horror’s Guide and other established guides and lists; the HMC account tried making an alternative item valuing system at one point because they didn’t like the valuable items list, and the csteasippers account was one of several of these assorted alts posting very serious claims about the creators of the guides.
- otter is also known to change usernames as soon as she gets called out, which is why the HMC account has so many past usernames.
I believe the original anon also said something about the HMC account organising and naming their pet groups identically to otter’s, although otter changed them when the anon mentioned this. However, I don’t have any evidence of that right now and I may have misunderstood that comment.
Anyway, that’s all I’ll post about it for now. Like I said, it definitely isn’t proven, but I do think this is a very strong indicator. I’m way too curious about otter, so I’ve well and truly fallen down the rabbit hole.

This was my first big piece since I completed my BA in illustration. Turns out forcing yourself to work extra extra hard through burnout, only causes even more severe burnout afterward. Who’d have thought? I didn’t touch a paintbrush for about a year after I completed my degree, though I did still sketch and eventually did some smaller pieces. After I completed my two-year animation course, the burnout had gradually started to fade and I decided to plan a big painting again. It still took a while to complete, but in the end I finished it and felt ready to take on new pieces after it.
