Sometimes I can’t stand mods
I swear, some people are on a weird ass power trip or have a stck up their ass when it comes to being a moderator in communities. I’ve been a mod before in a few myself, it’s nothing special. It’s a simple task, yet there’s at least a few out there that let that position get to them. I’ve experienced this, as a member, and it still sometimes leaves me pissed off. I was wrongfully banned out of nowhere in one of the communities I was in. No warning, no comment, absolutely fucking nothing. I made sure my post wasn’t NSFW, didn’t show any spoilers, all that shit.
I was absolutely furious when I found out and was baffled as to why I just got banned without any notice. You can imagine how infuriated I was when I found out why I was banned. Since then, I had another reason to make my own community. And as barren as it is, I could care less. I like the people there and what they post. That and I don’t feel like I’m walking on egg shells when posting in my own damn community.
I had my own experience as a mod, but I handled my part differently. Someone came forward, asking about why their post was removed. I asked another fellow mod why, it was due to a lot of skin, nothing nsfw. So do you know what I did? I made sure to inform them to just remove a part and they could post it again. No banning necessary from either of our side. They simply removed the post, not ban the member! And I helped out OP simply by telling them to do and what not to do.
Communication!
Communication is key when it comes to shit like this! And I fucking suck at it ffs! Being a moderator isn’t a hard thing to do! Just review shit and ban people who actually should to be banned!
Yeah, by now you can tell I still hold a grudge against that experience.
