The March Meet the Maker challenge asks what we are working on right now. Photos are worth a thousand words. Here they are:
Steve has just completed the “Spa Series” of soaps that have wonderful and exotic scents. These soap also include clay, which is a natural detox, and makes the soap silky.
I have just completed 2 scarves in the peacock pattern, and another copy of the koi pond scarf.
Meet the Maker March challenge continues with the question “What do you make?”
We make a full line of cold processed soap, including a line for men, shaving soap and shave products and hand painted silk scarves. I also paint pet portraits on silk.
✨ Studio selfies aren’t usually my thing, but here we are 💜 Sometimes it’s nice to step in front of the resin sparkles and just say hi 👋.

#marchmeetthemaker! Day 28-Adapt
There are two main ways I adapt in my business recently. The first is with planning. Having this system for the last year or so has helped. I like to have arrived schemed and to get things done in the order I want but I have learnt I can’t always do that. And using this system helps me plan but also way adapt throughout the week. So that’s pictures of my todo list.
The second is adapting my goals and expectations for my business and where it is going and being able to go with it a little and adapt my plan as I go. So that’s why there is a map background because so times I’m going to take a different route or even change my destination.

Finishing touches - I pride myself on the details and finishing touches on every piece I make. Especially with domes, I often spend too long trimming flowers to perfectly fill spaces. Every detail counts.

#marchmeetthemaker day 7 has the prompt of learn 📚 I am always learning things between running a shop, getting an education, and life in general! Sharing knowledge is also a huge part of why I do what I do, I try my best to make learning about history through fantasy and gaming accessible and fun because what’s better than learning through play?! Take this medieval things sticker sheet for example, how many things can you recognize?
My degree is in history with a concentration on ancient and medieval history with a double minor in studio art and medieval & renaissance studies which lends itself perfectly to creating cute fantasy and gaming inspired products that can also function as educational tools. Are there any time periods you’d like to see for more history inspired sticker sheets? Currently I’m working through another medieval things sheet and starting on one for the Romans.

Day 7 of @joannehawker #meetthemaker2023 is Learn. I’ve learned a lot about growing avocados over the years, like it’s easier with an avo-cone😉, and sometimes pruning makes them look like a sad stick😅. No worries though, this sad stick has new growth, which is why this is the first I decided to put in a pot! All my previous avocado plants have been living happily in water their entire lives, but after a few years, this one needed new digs.
I’m always learning, whether it’s about growing avocados or ceramics! I read and experiment all the time. I’ve lost avocado plants and ceramic pieces along the way, but I’m all about perseverance. I don’t let the disasters get me down for long, and you can bet I’ll share the good and bad because I want people to learn from my mistakes to save them from making the same!
One thing I learned in my reading is that sometimes, when you finally plant an avocado that’s been in water it needs some support. That’s why this seed is supported by stones. The main root is pretty hard, so when planted the seed stuck out of the dirt. The stones are not just aesthetic 😉Also, water grown seeds need to start in a wet environment until they acclimate to dirt. We’ll see if this one survives it’s dirt home, if not, just one more learning experience!

March meet the maker, better late than never right? Day 1&2
So I’ve always been a little reluctant to join in with these things, mainly due to my insecurities and lack of ability to post everyday, but here we are!
So I started my venture some years ago now, as I was looking for something to keep my mind occupied whilst going through therapy. I had always adored insects and decided to throw myself into learning to pin. This obviously soon got way out of control and thus Jenna’s curio cabinet was born! I have always found pinning insects and even caring for them and rearing my own, has been rather cathartic. So to be able to make a small business out of it has literally been a dream come true.
Massive mental health benefits all round!

Hello all, time for #meetthemaker day 2: all about me!
I will start by saying that I don’t really like to talk about myself. If I am it is usually fluff info that I don’t mind sharing or a really funny story (at least to me 😜)
Quite simply I love to draw and good art and if and if that translates into an illustration career where I don’t need to leave my house (for work … i am not opposed to leaving my home 😂) then I am totally game!
