Sorry I’ve been shit at blogging. This meet prep has been rough and real estate has been crazy this Spring.
I’ve had a lot of injuries getting to the meet, just really taking it out of me. I’m 10 days out and actually feel healthy. *knock on wood*
Weight is sitting at 237ish so I’ll have a little bit of a water cut a couple days out. Hoping to be 235 mid next week. I’m competing at 105kg. My coach keeps increasing my carbs and calories and I’m still losing which is just insane for me.
I’ve pulled out all the stops getting back in the game between chiro, cryotherapy and infrared sauna, plus 2 long dog walks a day. He really helps keep me accountable. Other than that I’ve only done cardio a few times. Thank god.
I’ll try to share more leading up to meet day. I worked up to my deadlift opener today. I really want that 227.5kg pull so I’ll let that ride. Squat and bench openers Friday!

5 days out till my powerlifting meet and I’m trying something for the first time called water loading which basically has me drinking about 3 ½ of these bad boys for 2-3 days while cutting out the sodium and carbs. Leading close to 1-2 days out cut the water and your body should respond in kind. Not recommended to all but thought I’d try it out. Just a little bit footage of the workout yesterday. I been recording myself just to see things like if my hips shoot out before lifting on deads or if my knees cave in on squats. Stuff like that. Also for some clips for the gram haha. Anyways this week feels weird just cause I never did so much volume for compound lifts before. I did 6 sets of 5 for regular bench then 4 sets of 5 for feet up bench. Thats 10 sets just for bench. Plus i squated and deadlifted 🤕 But its all good. As long as I am ready for the meet 😁

Kind of a mixed bag today. Was planning on 765 for a triple as my last #deadlift #trainingsession, and the first rep felt fantastic – so fantastic that I put the bar down a little too enthusiastically and really #fuckedup my left thumb pretty badly. I wasn’t feeling it after that, and my head definitely wasn’t in it, but @coachcloud kept me motivated enough to take a small conventional #PR after at 815. So I managed to end on somewhat of a high note; I hit huge bench and squat PRs this week, too, so I feel pretty good overall wrapping up #meetprep. At the very least the new blue @ironrebel shield shirt makes my arms look 💪 It drops this month! #hookgrip

That’s pretty much a wrap for this meet prep! Settled on some openers and hit those today. Squat felt a little weird because I set the bar on my lats sort of lopsided but bench and deadlift felt great. 473, 297, and 518 on the three, respectively.

I always use the hashtag #nevergiveup and I lived it at nearly 6 this morning. Today was my final #meetprep workout before the #rpsjerseyrumble2017 on the 20th and, lo and behold, I woke up to stomach problems that stayed with me throughout the workout and even after. But I wasn’t going to let me ruin my chances of one last #squat PR of 305. The worksets here are 250x5, 280x3 and 305x1.

Great start to my final week of #meetprep before the #rpsjerseyrumble2017. My #deadlift sets were 315x5, 350x3 and 385x1, which is a PR. Some hilarity ensues when the phone falls of its platform after the 350x3 set and, what you don’t necessarily see is that, as @anthonyblair was filming 385, I think I legit scared a few people with how loud I was…again. And I apologize for absolutely nothing…again. Almost there!
