Ah Muzencab
[[MORE]]For the Maya people there were reportedly a few different bee associated deities, such as the Bacab, Itzamna, Mok Chi, but a notable one was also called Ah Muzencab. Sometimes there are many of these bee deities, called ‘muzencabob’, which he may have been one of, the central figure of, or is simply another name for. In the Chilam Balam books detailing Yucatec Maya myths and customs Ah Muzencab is mentioned as a primordial god, noted as a collective of 'bee deities’ also personified as a singular like many Maya deities. He rises from the ground and assists another god, Bolon-ti-ku, a god of the darkness and earth, in overthrowing the god of the sky Oxlahun-ti-ku, blinding him and stealing his regalia, resulting in the Earth flooding. After this the Bacab, sometimes shown alongside bees, erect four trees at the cardinal corners of the Earth to continue the next cycle. This possibly connects Ah Muzencab to one of the cardinal Bacabs, Hobnil of the east, who is also associated with agriculture and beekeeping. In the area of Tulum there exists many depictions of a 'diving god’ who is thought to be Ah Muzencab as well due to bees being depicted in a similar nature in Maya artwork. The Maya cultivated many bee species though the most notable is the melipona beecheii, a stingless species, known to the Maya as xunan cab. They are sometimes mentioned as having a leader in the hive they report to called a noh yum cab and are appeased by special rituals, namely the u’ hanli cab, 'dinner of the bees’. Honey was coveted as highly important, religious, medicinal, and even made into an alcohol called balche.

The text appears and disappears making it difficult to read while traditional masks for “baile de la Conquista” emerge on the screen. The face of the artist comes into view while the distortion of both sound and background continues in a loop.
