Say goodbye to empty, static skies! I’m thrilled to release the Busy Skies mod, an overhaul that breathes new life into the horizons of your Sims 3 worlds.
This mod replaces the standard, rare hot air balloons with a bustling array of aerial traffic, making your cities feel like living, breathing metropolises and your towns feel more connected to the world.
It’s available for those who support on Patreon, and will be available to everyone on Saturday!
✨ Key Features:
- Fill the Skies: Adds a dynamic mix of helicopters, airplanes, and commercial blimps flying across the horizon.
- Color Variety: Aircraft come in diverse color variations to keep the scenery fresh.
- Nighttime Immersion: The mod truly shines when the sun goes down!
- 🚁 Helicopters will turn on active spotlights, illuminating the ground beneath them as they fly by.
- 🏙️ Blimps feature flashy, bright animated lights, perfect for a Bridgeport night.
⚙️ How It Works & Requirements:
This mod utilizes the game’s native “Hot Air Balloon” effect slot.
- Automatic: It works immediately in any world that already has this effect active (e.g., Sunset Valley, Bridgeport, and many popular custom worlds).
- Manual Fix (If your world has empty skies): If you don’t see the traffic, your world likely lacks the effect generator. You can easily add it yourself!
- Open the cheat console (Ctrl+Shift+C) and type: buydebug on
- In Build/Buy mode (sorted by function), go to the debug section (“?”) and find the “Fog Emitter” object.
- Place the emitter anywhere on a lot.
- Shift-Click the emitter and set the visual effect to: hotairballoon
📂 Installation Guide (Important!)
This mod comes in three parts to ensure everything works correctly. Please ensure your resource.cfg is set up to read from an “Overrides” folder.
- Into your Mods/Packages folder:
- Place Busy Skies - Blimp and Hot Air Balloon (Math Mod).package
- Place Busy Skies - Helicopters and Planes (Math Mod).package
- Into your Mods/Overrides folder:
- Place Busy Skies Override File (Math Mod).package (This is crucial for the mod to take priority).
