Don’t know how many lyft/uber drivers are on tumblr BUT PLEASE STOP SPRAYING YOUR CARS IN CHEAP FRAGRANCE AND/OR USING TWENTY “AIR” “FRESHENERS”. I LITERALLY CAN’T BREATHE.
And i’m not alone. These types of scents are made using volatile organic compounds and a dangerous chemical type called pthalates. This is so they stay noticeable longer, but in addition to triggering asthma attacks they can also trigger an allergic reaction in folks with MCAS.
MCAS and asthma both being conditions that are increasing due to covid running rampant.
On top of that, pthalates cause cardiac issues, cancers, and fertility issues. The studies currently available suggest it is not safe for pregnant women to be around these things.
Its not safe for yourself or your riders to be around these toxic chemicals. If you *must* have some kind of fragrance, look for a room mist that doesn’t contain the ingredient “fragrance” (which is just code for weird scented chemicals) and instead actually lists what oil or extracts comprise the fragrance.
Please. Its now impossible for me to get a lyft without having an asthma attack from the ridiculous amounts of synthetic fragrance being covered up. And that’s not fun and fames. That’s literally little to no oxygen getting to my brain. The longer it occurs, the more dangerous. And unfortunately, fragrance molecules are too small for even a fitted n95 to block out, so no, my mask doesn’t protect me from your dangling tree.
Should Have Left Yesterday!
I was actually driving Lyft and my customer started going off, That’s her on background vocals. So I had to make a song about it!

I do apologize to no posts in awhile as I did say I would post daily, I will do better. This past weekend of Labor Day was crazy busy of rides and longer hours then normal. But when you love what you do it is not work. Fun to see the money just pour in one ride after another. As much as I love driving and talking with people it does make you tired and as with every work you do need to take time off and rest. Today is a rest day and tomorrow back at it for another weekend crowd coming to Vegas plus taking locals where they need to go. NFL season starts tomorrow, Raiders play Monday night here in Vegas and Hockey season is on the horizon as well. Enjoy your day and more daily stories coming starting tomorrow.

Helpful apps for Ride Share Drivers
Earn more while working some of the gig app work out there like Uber and Lyft
The gig economy thrives on outsourcing services like ridesharing which can seem like a great side hustle. These companies are constantly hiring drivers through social media, Craigslist and other job boards. The job has many incentives and bonuses, but when it’s all set and done, how much money can you make driving for Lyft?
When calculating the earnings from driving, you can incorporate all the costs to get the actual profit. The gathered data and resources can help you decide on the hustle; read on to learn about the benefits of driving for Lyft and how much you can earn.
Lyft offers $300 for drivers who complete 100 rides within the first month. The pay can vary wildly between rides, and after deducting all the costs, you might get an average of $20 to $30 per hour. These costs also include the 20% share a driver pays the Lyft Company, taxes paid to the cities, insurance companies and other additional charges.
1) Surging prices
Lyft has adopted surge pricing, which results in a significant income variable. If you drive during peak hours, you can out-earn individuals who drive during the low-slung hours.
2) Location
If you drive in the city, you will earn more than someone who drives for Lyft in the rural and suburban areas. The prices factor inflation and costs of doing business; For instance, the cost per trip in New York will be higher than in a city like Chicago. Drivers in New York can rejoice, but the cost of living is also higher in the City.
Moreover, the calculations are based on customer density which mean’s how long you drive around without a rider in your car. In a busy city, a driver can drop a customer and pick another one up almost immediately, while in the suburbs, a driver can drive for miles between fares with the Lyft application on increasing the underutilization period leading to price reduction.
3) Hours worked
It might be challenging to calculate the monthly earnings from Lyft due to the nature of the job’s freelance flexibility. Different drivers will work for different hours from one day to another. If you choose to work for extended periods or a specific number of hours in a week, you can earn full-time or part-time income. The choice is yours.
4) Tipping
Lift added tipping in 2017 which is suitable for drivers as it boosts their income and potential revenue. The tips add another source of income due to the kindness of the strangers. Although Lift does not release statistics data on tipping, drivers can increase their income through tips.
5) Taking Costs into Considerations
The ride’s costs can affect the income you earn from driving for Lyft; the gig economy thrives on outsourcing costs, and the costs of working for Lyft falls on the shoulders of the drivers. Technology has led to the enforcement of different factors in the department of labor, allowing companies to hire freelancers who take on the company’s costs. Most freelancers pay for their equipment, expenses, health insurance and retirement. Calculating your net income should include accounting for these costs.
The real-time expense driving for Lyft includes the price of gas which can cost 4.87 per hour of a driver’s income. Moreover, you can pay for car maintenance and repairs, parking, car payments, auto insurance, tolls, and extras like snacks, entertainment and drinks.
The costs will also vary depending on how much a driver is on the road and where they live. For instance, high volume drivers will incur more maintenance and repair costs. If you drive in an urban environment, you will pay more for parking than a driver who works in a rural environment.
Before investing in Lyft, you should remember that your car will need upgrading to meet the Lyft performance, and you could perform other cosmetic maintenance to make the car more comfortable.
The expense might also be based on the type of employment you choose, and if you decide to work for Lyft full-time, you might pay more to pick a customer than someone who works for the company on the side.
However, if you have an additional job that caters for your insurance and other costs, this might not be a factor for you. Moreover, you should file your taxes when driving for Lift which adds more cost to your income.

Lyft will get 20% of the payment, which includes all the taxes on your income. The site shows what they will deduct from your pay; however, the pay might increase from time to time. Most of the rideshare companies charge the consumers little money, which can result in deficits, leading to increased costs on the drivers and little income.
Lyft has maintained stable earnings over the years and it is even surprising that it maintained its earnings during the immense coronavirus pandemic. Although the drivers might not complete the rides they could have before the pandemic, they still maintain good earnings. Lyft has maintained its prices which makes the hustle sustainable.
Lyft is lenient on drivers and vehicle requirements compared to other competitors, which have a list of vehicle requirements. Lyft drivers should be at least 21 years old and own an Android or iPhone, and they should undergo a DMV check during the hiring process. A driver should also get a social security number and an in-state driver’s license, which is at least a year old. You can learn more from the Lyft page about the requirements.

You can earn a sustainable income when you drive for Lyft as it has a reasonable pay rate. The amount you make will however depend on your city, how many hours you choose to work, and the season.
The cities pay more as there are more customers, and the rates are higher due to reduced downtime.
However, in rural areas, the rates might be lower, and the number of customers might be less than those in towns. If you want to earn more on Lyft, you can work more during peak times and choose urban areas with high traffic.
