i think it’s very interesting to compare this with huddy, where cuddy’s telling house she loves him immediately, and repeatedly. where she makes a little fuss over him not saying it back. like… just on a surface level, compare that!!!

i think about this conversation between wilson and cuddy in Teamwork a lot when it comes to this sort of thing:

Wilson: What do you see in Lucas anyway?
Cuddy: I don’t see that it’s any of your business.
[…]
Cuddy: I’m living my life. And for the first time I’m not gonna change that because of how it might affect him… or you.

not only does cuddy not declare her love to lucas on screen, but she doesn’t really make a case for liking him at all. she deflects like crazy.

i’ve probably said this a million times, so forgive me if i sound like a broken record here, but this (the not saying i love you thing) definitely adds credibility to the whole “cuddy doesn’t really love lucas” thing. the fact that she views getting with lucas as more of an accomplishment, a statement, a claim of her ability to get over house, to have a “normal” relationship, rather than it being something she is pursuing because she truly loves him.

maybe cuddy likes lucas. maybe she is attracted to him. i’ve never tried to claim otherwise. but to say that she loves him feels like a stretch if even she can’t say it!!!

i think… the entirety of season 6 was lucas trying to do something about cuddy leaving him. i think both of them kinda saw the writing on the wall in a way — which is why their scheme of faking a breakup in Ignorance Is Bliss fools house so easily at the start, and why it’s pretty easy for us to forget about lucas once season 7 starts. cuddy kinda has a foot out the door at all times, at least in my opinion, it never feels like she’s fully in it, and i think that’s the point. lucas spends pretty much the entirety of season 6 fighting back against house in some way. sometimes it’s not super overt, sometimes it is, but there’s always the looming threat of house over the luddy relationship that just can’t be escaped. if you spent your entire relationship feeling like that, would you try to argue when she eventually, actually, does leave you for him? i wouldn’t. the war has already been lost.

i read this interview with michael weston recently, where he described the house-cuddy-lucas thing as “An intellectual ménage à trois” and i think that’s a perfect way to put it. house was always involved in that relationship, his presence felt even in the scenes where he is not there at all. everything came back to him in a way that i am sure wasn’t a pleasant thing to feel, in lucas’ position. sure, house and cuddy weren’t together, but they weren’t not together.

all of this to say — i think it makes sense lucas didn’t put up a fight at the end. i wouldn’t. most of us wouldn’t! that’s just kinda how relationships faire out sometimes. i agree that i feel like we should have seen that final conversation between cuddy and lucas, but i don’t really know where it would have fit — Help Me works with cuddy showing up out of nowhere, and it’s a packed episode as is. i would have liked a bit more closure on that side of things and i do think it’s weird that we don’t get it, but i also don’t think it’s that big a deal that we didn’t see it lmao

24. Favourite Pokemon game?

Ruby! It’s the one I’ve played the most, and so know the best and have the biggest emotional connection to it. It also has my favourite starters - probably because I’ve played it the most, but still - and I just really like female protag’s sprite - maybe I played it enough to grow attached to it, I don’t know. Besides, you can’t tell me those soundtracks ain’t good! My heart belongs to Hoenn

22. If you were a gym leader, what would your typing/theme be?

You know it already, I’d be a bug type gym leader! As for the theme… I like the spider pokemon, so a spider web would be the natural choice, however, Viola beat me to it. I think something to do with the metamorphosis of butterflies, since constant change is important for me. Now to think how to actualise that theme…
