I am in a prison… and the prison is the hunt.

I just found out that I have 12 more trophies before I get platinum… it calls to me.

I just beat Celestial Emissary, which was like … oddly easier than I thought it should be but maybe I have grown as a hunter.

I am working on fighting Sluglegs, the daughter of the cosmos and it is making up for it!! It is a fun one despite being hard! I know I should go into the nightmare of wossface or the bright sunny hunter’s existential crisis…

The fact that her area is Altar of Despair makes me wish I could set her free rather than killing her but … I am drenched in the bloods at this point.

Also Fuck that Bloody Crow of Cainhurst and his “TEEHEE I know where you are going to dodge” ass, I have been told I can get the badge by just killing Eileen while she is basically dying on the steps … but that feels awful … she is a wonderful strong woman who despite everything has lived to old age.

I have been … very normal about Bloodborne recently and I am having a blast. So much fashion … I mean beasts and the hunt *cough*

This is my outfit for going to see the Queen.

This has been my go to look for combat for now I am planning on building an outfit that … isn’t JUST from the Vileblood Gift Shope

I beat Amygdala on my first try which was awesome for me! I still need to Chalice so I can try out the Beast Claw, and do the hunter’s nightmare … THE SUN … , and then like fight some other bosses, and try to end the endless night or something.

Sir Pentival, the closest thing Acererak has had to a rival, a noble half dragon paladin who was dead set on the extermination of the Lich.

His efforts to thwart his plans can be seen in the second chapter of “The Infernal Machine: Rebuild”, but evident by the 4e adventure “Prisoner of Castle Perilous” it was not successful.

Acererak is many things, and spiteful is most certainly one of them. Imprisoning the paladin in one of his towers, Acererak created a simulacrum tasked with torturing the hero for all eternity, leaving to pursue his other dark endevours.

But as years passed, the torture dragging on, something odd happened. The simulacrum got a spark of autonomy. A spark that bloomed into a flame of discontentment. So much that it was able to resist its task, and seek ways to escape the confines of the tower by granting itself a soul, attempting to do so via reverse engineering his creators first attempts at the SOUL MONGER, a name you may recognize.

Despite the player party thwarting the copy in the adventure, and potentially saving Sir Pentival from further misery, it’s evident that the simulacrum was eventually successful, given his appearance as “Acererak” in 5e’s Tomb of Annihilation!

I know I said this would just feature Prisoner of Castle Perilous, but this guy is the most concrete rendition of Acererak we have. So. Ya know. STAY TUNED FOR THE NEXT PART!

Hello voidlings, today I bring you the a drawing … sort of. This is a players character from a Daggerheart game I ran.

I am happy with how it is going! I didn’t trace this time (trying to break that habit) and only went off of reference and memory!

I am for once proud of myself (for however long it lasts)

So, the simulacrums eh?

Yeah, Manshoon isn’t the only wizard without duplicates to start a labor union.

Most appearances of Acererak the eternal are in fact fakes. The Demilich at the end of TOH was retconned into being just the same as the previous two fakes in that same dungeon, just having… more bite.

Acererak’s simulacrums though are more than your average. They are advanced and hyper augmented, to the point that he eventually made False Liches, like Rerak in Vecna: Eve of Ruin. Powerful undead constructs that are mirrored foes for any would be invaders.

But in that same adventure, the players can discover that the simulacrums can become sentient and develop personalities beyond their design. And that just tickled the old Lich pink. The universes ultimate joke. That his tomb guardians became prisoners themselves. Adding to the misery caused by his machinations.

But there is one more. And he deserves his own dedicated post. Next time, we’re talking-

Now, with introductions out of the way, what is a Acererak?

He first appeared as a Demilich in his debut adventure, The Tomb of Horrors, designed by Gygax to be more of a death trap than a character.

But as time passed and his popularity grew, his character being revisited, Gygax and future writers would add more information bit by bit.

A cambion born of a non-consensual demonic union with a Balor, his mother was burned alive by fearful villagers once his demonic features became more evident. It turned him against humanity and into the arms of Vecna, becoming a pupil of his.

And after Vecna’s first death and following ascent… the rest is grim history. But the what and who hardly matters. Because Acererak is multiple. His own consciousness as a vestige in the multiverses, his copies and duplicates becoming sentient and taking up the mantle, and you may have very well met one.

And that’s what we’ll get into next.

No Bridgerton Spoilers, but Feb 26th better hurry or I am going to burn down a village. I need more 4 episodes was not enough. At least the watch party was fun! We have scones, biscuits, cucumber sandwiches, and tea! It was tasty… I think all told I had 6 cups of various teas.
