I’m probably gonna pick a Pombon for my starter, for one reason.
Pomeranians and Keeshonds are related/similar species. And my family’s had nothing but Keeshonds as far back as I can remember.
Gimme some good fluffy floofs.

Guelder Canterbury Bell, keeshond, and her litter of ten puppies whelped in the summer of 1936

I think that if we crossed the shipperke and keeshond we could get a dog that resembled a raccoon dog. AI seems to agree. It thinks that crossing a Eurasier might get the color closer, but then you can bring in the aggressiveness of the chow chow and cause issues.
This is what AI thinks it would look like.

In the past a breeder would work with a few animals. If we made this a massive project then many keeshond and shipperke breeders could participate and we could create a healthy cute dog with a unique aesthetic. For a healthy breed, start with expanding the gene base a lot initially and then shaping to standard. We also have genetic screening technologies that can improve upon the parent breeds.

I don’t think I’ll love any creature more than I loved this fluffy boy. I don’t think it’s possible. It doesn’t feel real.

Dahlia! My other sisters keeshond pup! High energy, always fabulous. And dramatic.
