Uhhhh random post my ocs and how I think they would drive I guess

Kavi: Would not like driving. She doesn’t like driving in big cities because the rules are confusing to her. Does not have her driver’s license but can drive (questionably well) if she has to. If she did do the test she would ace the knowledge test and pass the practical but would complain about if the signs are actually functional or not. Definitely makes other people drive but bullshits on the reason.

Mizu: Likes driving and is surprisingly a good driver, even though he doesn’t have a lot of experience in driving he is cautious but confident enough that he doesn’t come off as a rookie. Does tend to drive a bit faster than the speed limit but isn’t prone to road rage. The best designated driver (if you can get him to agree). Likes driving games and simulators, would squeal and jump up and down if he got to try those driving sims F1 drivers use.

Jason: The most mid driver ever. The neutral of driving. Except not in an average way, as in his good is cancled out by the bad. Yes, he slows down in school zones, he always checks both sides and yields to pedestrians, but he also messes with the mechanics of his car and coasts on the downhill. Driving on the highway? No problem, maybe even a good driver, but his parallel parking is about as parallel as a circle. Prefers taking the train specifically.

Keo: The type of driver who loves long road trips and the winding paths of the mountain side and what not. Great at parking, loves her car and washes it weekly. But bad traffic will absolutely ruin her day, grips the wheel with a death grip when someone cuts in front and will honk at ANYONE. Has almost flipped someone off before only to realize it was an old frail woman, apologized but was still secretly pissed and then felt bad about being pissed.

Bonus: Cross doesn’t know how to drive because no one taught him

[ 🔒 ]ㅤ what is a secret they’ve sworn never to tell ?

• oh god, billie and secrets. billie gets an abortion at the end of the first book and that one doesn’t come out for a LONG time. but i think generally she keeps everything quite close to her chest. it’s not so much traumatic events that she keeps secret so much as the fact that they hurt her, so maybe things come out as jokes after a few shots and a line of coke, but the truth of those things will stay buried forever.
• luci is a very, very new side character but i am playing with the idea that she may be a survivor of either domestic violence or sexual abuse or a horrible combination of the two. if she is, then that is a secret that isn’t coming out.
• mattie likes to pretend that she comes from a working class background and grew up in poverty, even though she manifestly didn’t, and will never, ever, ever admit to her entrance to the best university in france for the same reasons.
• and then kavi. i guess kavi’s big secret is just that he’s trans, but it’s only a secret from his family, and it’s one that gets told by the end of his character arc. he isn’t very good with secrets. they make him uncomfortable, and unlike the rest of that lot, the boy does not thrive in discomfort.

• billie breaks all of her promises, unless it benefits her not to. she makes promises as easily as she breaths - yeah, i’ll wake up for the morning shift, promise; no, i didn’t fuck that guy, i promise; of course i didn’t blackmail kavi, i promise i would never do something like that - and they are usually broken by the exhale.
• mattie doesn’t make promises, they look too much like commitement.
• luci keeps her promises as best she can. i imagine she breaks promises to mattie very occasionally when work forces her hand, although the fact that she doesn’t fight it is a testement to the workaholism coping mechanism she’s got going.
• and kavi? kavi really doesn’t break promises.

[ 🧩 ]ㅤ what’s a truth about themselves they refuse to admit ?

• billie would not admit on pain of death that she is unhealthily attached to caspar, viciously jealous of anyone that steals his attention, and desperate for him to stay by her side. admitting that she cares about him at all is a bit of a stretch, despite all the blatant evidence to the contrary. she’s happiest when they are tearing each other apart.
• mattie is ‘just having fun’. she’s definitely not a reckless commitementphobe with no idea who she is or what she wants. she’s just having a good time, guys, jeez.
• luci sees herself more clearly, but she can’t look too closely at the depths of her loneliness. it’s teeth are too sharp.
• and kavi can’t admit that it is his own fear, not the people that he loves, that gets in the way of his relationships.

Kavi / Zyg have a relationship built off shenanigans. Kavi is allegedly trying to keep their head down at their cruise ship grunt work job, but when given the opportunity to get unscrupulously involved with a very rich and politically influential alien family goes “sure, why not?” Zyg is a middle-aged anthropologist who has been so repressed all his life that he’s having teenage-level glee about sneaking around behind his parents’ back doing something they wouldn’t approve of. They are so silly. They love being in situations.

However, I am going for something a bit less silly thematically. Zyg has been stuck playing his family’s game for so long, he can’t really imagine a life outside of it. He’s convinced he’s going to be under their thumb until he dies, and he has more or less accepted that this is How Things Are. Kavi, as a person who is working to change the state of their home planet’s exploitative tourist economy, is kind of a shining example of “things don’t have to suck all the time, actually, and there are ways for life to be better.” He’s built a career and a life he’s more or less okay with, but he’s not really happy. Kavi is the first person he’s met who says “that’s fucked up, you deserve better, it doesn’t have to be this way.” And like wow he needed that.

Reverse angle: Kavi really needs to like slow down sometimes. They are so focused on the big-picture-end-goal that they don’t really stop to think about anything in the present. Everything is a vehicle to the next vehicle to their dreams. And in some ways, that’s good, they never lose sight of what they’re fighting for, but there’s a long way to go from Point A to Point B, and they are remarkably bad at appreciating the present sometimes. As an anthropologist, Zyg’s entire job is appreciating the little nuances of cultures as they exist and how they came to be that way, and has in fact built a career off doing it. He forces them to think a little harder and be more curious and less enraged by the state of things (temporarily).

46. What would be their sitcom episode B-plot?

While the A-plot happens on a higher deck of the cruise ship, Kavi is struggling in the crew’s quarters, trying to stop the food replicator from spitting out pucks of a mysterious uncooked meat after they smacked it because it wasn’t working. One by one, other crew members get wrapped up in trying to fix it before the crew’s manager gets back without being knocked out by a snowball of The Substance. The plot is resolved when they finally get an engineer down there who presses one button and everything is instantly solved.

the space polycule!! I’ve color coded these: kavi is purple, zyg is green, dee is blue. and the only reason dee doesn’t get a bingo is because i don’t think I’ve developed him as much as the other two, but I’m sure that won’t take long lmao

also kavi question mark on neurodivergence because if i know myself i accidentally gave them SOMETHING without realizing it and i just haven’t figured out what it is yet. and zyg obviously has space lizard autism re: his obsession with humans.

Still have to do quite some clean up and adjustments with Sann and Amin’s lineart, but progress is progress and with that I’m very happy 😄

Also whenever in doubt, forego drawing complicated hands and instead move on to easier stuff. Do hands later lol

Feeling a bit better by now and for some reason this piece really spoke to me today, so I started working on the lineart :)

Also broke 15k words on the script this week, which is awesome! ✨

-Bastard son of a noble, goes through life with a mostly chill attitude, loves lakes and trekking with friends, he finds it easier to channel his spells through his guitar than anything else, even if he sometimes ends up freezing the floor where his squadmates stand. -Likes to create sculptures of either other elves, animals, whatever abstract thought is on his head or his latest favourites characters from ado’s books

-Plays music for the toads, sheep and kids, figured out how to use a healing spell via music too

-Loves learning and teaching others how to play any instruments they have.

-Wanted to have a mustache like Caelus but his facial hair refused to grew that way. (He cries about that to the sheep still)

-Defuses arguments by picking up all parties, throwing them in the lake and telling them to cool off.

-Mostly stays working with the sheeps, watching over them and when is time to shave them he takes the opportunity to give them funny haircuts.
