about a year ago i found this audio track on vkontakte under the same name and like. all that time and i still cant trace a thing regarding its origins and it makes it all somewhat more beautiful tbh, and i would totally pay the author a couple thousands to use this in an adaptation of a comic of mine
Ok so, rather than talk about friends or lovers, I decided to talk about the only full family I have in my story.
The Ainsworths
If anyone remembers from the first day of introductions, Sam and James are siblings.

(in this piece, James/18 and Sam/16, no reason to specify, I just wanted to)
While they clash on occasion, they are always there for each other through thick and thin.
You might be wondering where they got their purple/lavender hair from, and it’s from their father, Jarith.

(current age/pic)
Jarith Ainsworth here, he isn’t completely human. I can’t quite say what he is and explain the history of his genetics, because that’s something I’m getting to in the story. BUT, it is because of him and his homeworld that Sam and James have unnaturally colored hair.
He used to work as a fisherman under his father’s instruction on his homeworld. His father would take care of the shipments to other planets, while Jairth would handle the packaging and catching. It wasn’t until he was nearly of age to become an adult that his father allowed him to go on his first off world trip. He took the ship, incredibly excited to finally see the outside world, but of course, it didn’t turn out exactly like he expected.
Things were different than his father had told him. There were no walls or barriers between the worlds, no obvious gates for him to enter, it was just… space. And in space is exactly where he got lost. Nothing was like the navigation told him it should be and there were pirates and hostility everywhere he went.
Days passed with no way to go home or to even contact his family and the ship was running low on fuel. He saw a planet in the distance, barely making it there and nearly crashing as he landed. It was a world he had never seen before, it wasn’t anything like the ones his father had shown him.
He had nothing to his name, other than crates full of fish and a satchel with credits he soon found out were not accepted or even recognized at the shops. He pleaded with shop owners, trying to figure out where he was, but no one paid him any mind, other than to call him a filthy human… wherever he was, they weren’t exactly accepting of his kind.
Then an older man found him, an alien of some sorts that Jarith didn’t recognize. He offered Jarith a place to stay, a chance to work for him to earn the munny he needed to repair his ship. Jarith readily agreed, following the man through the marketplace until they reached a brick alley that made Jarith pause, honestly wondering if he should follow a stranger into it.
The man assured him he was safe, telling Jarith he had a mechanic shop at the end of it. He would even call out his daughter to prove it to him.
“Jenna!” The man called and within seconds a young, beautiful human girl rushed out.
Jarith’s heart skipped, his breath hitching when their eyes met. He knew nothing about her other than her name, but he was in love.

(20 years ago when they first met)
It didn’t take long for the two of them to connect. Jarith worked daily in the shop, only stopping when Jenna would bring him a cup of tea. It didn’t matter what he was doing or how busy they were, he would stop for her, just to see her smile and learn just a little bit more about her.
She was an orphan, abandoned over and over again by one family member after the next after her mother had died shortly after she was born. The only trinket she had to her name was her mother’s ring, completely worthless as far as money was concerned, but it meant the world to her. She was left on the streets, begging and left to steal to eat. That was until her new father found her and took her in.
She rarely left the shop, only to go on short trips to pick up some goods and supplies for her father, but had trouble looking people in the eye when she had to order. After Jarith took over the shopping and ordering, she stayed inside even more.
Jarith was one of the few she would freely smile around, meet his eyes with hers as she listened to his tales about his homeworld. She was as smitten as he was with her.
Barely a month had passed before Jarith pulled her father aside, requesting permission to court Jenna. Her father merely laughed, saying there really wasn’t any need for the formality of asking, but he gave his blessing regardless.
Jarith had been able to contact his family, telling them the details and explaining how long it would be until he came back home… if he even would, but he didn’t disclose that part. Instead, he focused back on Jenna, making sure to take every moment with her as he could.
She had been stunned silent when he asked her out, confessing his feelings for her and grasping her hands in his. Tears filled her eyes, out of everyone in her life, Jarith was the one person she knew wouldn’t abandon her.

Last little sketch of the night. Finally got a true design for a certain missing dad in my KH Fanfic. I had a previous design, but he never looked his age. So I just say those old designs are from when he was 18-20 years old and this is about 18 years later!
Unseen, Jarith watched the dragons passing below him and let out a long sigh. There was just … something missing. He wasn’t enjoying himself; he had no ties here.
Of course, he hadn’t been very open to forming ties; he was cold, he knew, and never tried to engage with his clan-mates. A few of them cared about him simply because he was their clan-mate – Lorette and Nesita sprung to mind – but most could take him or leave him, and some actively disliked him.
He didn’t mind that, though. There was nothing bad about being part of Clan Lukra. It was just … there wasn’t much good about it, either.
Jarith examined his options. He could stay in the clan, keep things as unsatisfying as they currently were. He could stay in the clan and make an effort to be more friendly, do some reading with Lorette and Bartos, take notes for Zarya. Or he could leave.
He could look for another clan, or he could leave the society of mortal dragons altogether and go serve the Arcanist. Pausing, he realized that he lacked data enough to choose either option. What would it be like to serve the Arcanist? Many of the clan’s offspring, including his own, had chosen that path for their futures. And he had never heard from them again. That was standard; no one came back from exaltation. Which made the choice rather … worryingly permanent. He might love life in the Observatory, but if he didn’t, he would have no way out.
“Jarith?” The voice cut into the Fae’s thoughts, and he froze. No one should be able to see him here; he was wedged into a crevice near the top of the cave wall. His colors might have given him away, but the crack was mossy and green, not the ordinary pale pink of Crystalspine rock.
“Jarith, I know you’re there.” The voice was light, a bit amused, and Jarith felt his crest swelling in annoyance. How, curse it? “Normally I’d keep going and leave you to your secrecy, but I need your help.”
Jarith peered out of the crevice, something he hadn’t dared to do since first being addressed, fearing that the movement would draw an eye. A large head was almost level with him, antlers nearly scraping the ceiling: it was Acrux.
“Did your spirits tell me where to find me?” Jarith said. His voice was completely even, but his crest flared in derision. He wasn’t completely sure whether he believed in Acrux’s supposed psychic powers, but he leaned towards no.
“Yours did, yes.” There was a smile in the Imperial’s voice, and Jarith had a hunch that his own antics amused Acrux. Most things did.
“What do you want?” Again, Jarith’s voice revealed nothing of what he felt. If he hadn’t been a Fae, though, it would have been sharp.
“One of my projects failed rather … destructively.” Acrux sounded appropriately chagrined at the failure of his mechanical skill. “The blueprints burned. But I saw you drawing it and taking notes earlier, when you thought I hadn’t notice you – do you still have them? It would really help.”
Jarith fluttered his wings and crept out of the crevice. “I suppose I can look.”
His thoughts of exaltation or migration would have to wait.

Today I have for you this album by Jarith called Later on in Life. Before listening to this album I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, as Jarith claims on his Bandcamp to be rather bad at making Vaporwave. But fortunately this album turned out to be a surprisingly good listen, even though it’s more like an instrumental hiphop album with some Vaporwave influences. Track 1 Welcome Back is a strange slowed down Electro House track and a pitched down voice talking some nonsense, it’s a funny listen. Track 2 27 is a very relaxed groove that actually sounds a little Braindancey with the Boards of Canada like synth lead. Track 3 Trashy is a muddy slow R&B groove that makes for a nice headbopping Hiphop instrumental. Track 4 Fertile Ground is an interesting one, kind of like a slowed down 80’s Electro track. Track 5 Desolation Once More is a bit more abstract, with a lo-fi beat and piano and string samples fading in and out and generally it sounds quite mysterious. Track 6 Propaganda Intro leads to Track 7 Propaganda a rather nice if minimal beat with some nice Brass samples giving it that old-school hiphop sound. Track 8 Maligned Beat is indeed a groove with out of groove synths and piano, a fun intermezzo. Track 9 Ne'erdowell is a nice slowgroove with some Electric Piano samples. Track 10 That’s Better is a very funky groove with some great drumbreaks and a strong bass synth. With track 11 Later on in Life we move into Ambient / Chillout territory, it’s one of the best tracks on the album with some well fleshed out instrumentation and production. Track 12 Not Going To Wait is a lo-fi Chiptune groove with a great catchy melody. Track 13 is a bit of Drone / Post Rock, maybe a bit out of place on this album, but a nice closer nonetheless. Overall Later on in Life by Jarith is a nice album that might not be entirely consistent in style, but still packs plenty of nice grooves with personality.
I panic when I think of losing you I just can’t handle it it’s like a cold hand working its way down my throat and it’s like arthritis in my palms and I really want stability but you’re not stable
At least I see you trying, that means you love me, that means you want to be with me, and I love you too, so much, but your own mind won’t let you see unless I’m right there in front of you
I love your smile and the way you taste like cigarettes and touching your nose with mine before we kiss and the way your voice sounds when you tell me you love me or how your laugh sounds when I remind you about none pizza with left beef
I also love you when you’re sad, when you’re not really all there; I love how you trust me enough to let me around when you can’t say anything, I love falling asleep with my head in your lap while you’re absorbed in a video game, I love when you lay down too and suddenly I wake up, burning in your body heat, but happy to be there
I love waking up from the fog of sleep no matter what mood you’re in to smoke with you and catch whatever you’re watching or listening to for a minute, little pieces of heaven where I’m always high on THC and endorphins that exist in a dream
Please don’t leave me, I have walked into a dream come to think of it; those pieces are just distilled elements that I love most - but this entire time has been the best that we could build it, and there is no grass that will be greener.
