Iris is complete!
I pieced the top in July 2023, sandwiched and basted it November 2025, got it quilted in February, and bound it in March.
My roommate gave me the floral fabrics from Liberty of London, as well as the flowered teal I used for the binding, and I pulled in the pinks and fleur-de-lis to round it out.

The band first saw success

the Nicolas Cage / Meg Ryan film,
City of Angels, and was released
as the lead single off of their
6th album, Dizzy Up the Girl.
The same year,
the Billboard Hot 100 music charts
would see “Iris” reach number one
in Australia, Canada, and Italy;
number three in UK;
and, number nine in the US.
Currently experiencing a resurgence
in the form of a social media trend,
Iris rides a new wave of engagement,
but devout fans already know
this is but a single song in
the wide spanning repertoire
of one the greatest Alternative Rock bands

Here is Gamera’s final opponent in the Heisei Trilogy, and possibly his most powerful villain he has ever fought, the Ancient Gyaos Mutation, Iris!
Iris is one of the coolest looking and interesting kaiju ever, he was found in shrine cave-like structure inside a stone egg by a young woman named Ayana Hirasaka. She then loved and bonded with Iris because she had a hatred for Gamera due to the death of her parents and pet Cat from the battle of Gamera and Super Gyaos in the first of the trilogy, 1995 Gamera: Guardian of the Universe film. She then named Iris after her pet Cat, and became a polar opposite of Gamera, and wanted to merge with Ayana and defeat Gamera. Iris also has no clear origin, either he was a random genetic mutation of Gyaos or a creature made from the Ancient Atlantean civilization, there is never a clear answer in the film. So not only is Iris interesting, but he is also super creepy in some ways, such as I mentioned, wanting to merge with Ayana and has a creepy roar that sounds like droning and humming, he also is Super long, with his Tentacles being over 1000s of meters long! But also, he grew into a Giant Kaiju by using his Tentacles or Tentaclancers to drain out the life force of animals and mostly humans, leaving them as dead hollow husks. That is scary. He also is Gamera’s strongest villain because he is match for Gamera in the air and on land. Gamera is in one of his strongest forms in the film, and Iris simply uses his Tentaclancers to swat away Gamera’s powerful plasma fireballs with ease and using his Tentclancers and Spears on his arms to pierce through Gamera and even absorb some of his life force and even copy his abilities.
Also in their climatic battle, Gamera was forced to sever his own hand in order to defeat Iris and save Ayana. So yeah, Iris is extremely tough.
I love Iris, he is definitely in my top 3 favorite Gamera villains. He definitely should come back one day. He has a lot more potential and could be a perfect final opponent again. Hope you like it!
For my design, I made different styles to his Spear arms, his shell-like head, the spikes on his legs and back, and his Tentaclancers. I also put two more bioluminescent patches on his chest. And made his Tentaclancers much longer of course.

OOOOOHHH I LOVE THESE QUESTIONS!! And here come the answers, so, brace for it!
1. I guess it really depends on the artist! If we’re talking paintings, then it’s definitely Leonardo Da Vinci or Michelangelo!
But if it’s music; then it’s a tough one! She adores a good array of pop music from the 90’s, especially Selena Quintenilla, Celine Dion, and Whitney Houston!
2. This is easy! Green! While she also likes midnight blue, marigold, and burgundy, she’ll always pick green because she adores how it reminds her of her own green eye!
3. Ooohh an element? Now that’s actually a really interesting one. If we’re talking ALTA type of elements (Earth, Fire, Water, Air), then she would pick between either Air or Water!
But if we’re talking the whole list of Pokémon types, she would definitely pick either Ghost or Psychic!!!
4. OHOHOOOO, now THIS is gonna be a fun one!!
To me, they’re a mix of “Lovebirds” when they are together, a healthy couple working together behind the scenes!!!
I like to think of them as Morticia and Gomez Addams, where they both openly support and assist each other when one of them is down! And make no mistake, Iris is just as fiercely protective of him as he is of her!
5. She is a whole melting pot of inspirations, but I’ll definitely give you design/personality here!
I based a part of her personality off of Alice Liddell from the American Mcgee’s Alice series, when Iris tends to be more blunt, quick to respond to a threat with a fight (when she struck Abel with the rotary phone), and more often than not serve some solid advice…or come up with the most unhinged insults and quips.
Another part is the “unnerving” aspect (a trait that will be explored later in Wilted) and, surprisingly, her compassion and “need to protect others” comes from both Charlotte Emily and when she became the Marionette.
But in general, her design is based off of ball jointed dolls/puppets, which in some instances you could see her joins through her sleeves.
6. It’s between “Her Name is Alice” by Shinedown or “Gales of Song” by Kylie McNeil, although I lean towards the former because Iris’ origination stemmed from the Alice in Wonderland series (original and other forms of media)
7. I have the aesthetic in mind, unfortunately I can’t for the life of me describe the name of it but forgive me!
BUT- I’ll show you outfits that absolutely would fit her!
I’m picturing…something Coraline, Alice, and Anastasia.
