Tuyển Iraq phải di chuyển 12 giờ cho trận play-off World Cup

Day 13: War On Iran

The U.S. military said four airmen were killed when their refueling plane crashed in the deserts of western Iraq. U.S. Central Command said the plane wasn’t downed by “hostile fire,” while the Islamic Resistance of Iraq “claimed responsibility for downing a US KC-135 refueling aircraft and conducting 37 attacks on US bases in the region over the past 24 hours,” Iran’s Press TV reported….

The New York Times report didn’t mention the militia’s claim, deeming it too unimportant to report. The Times simply takes Central Command’s word for it….

Gulf Arab states are rethinking their longstanding ties with the United States after the beating they are taking in just the first 13 days of war against Iran….

Iran has told the GCC countries that the attacks against them will cease if they close the U.S. bases and send the Yanks packing….

Reacting to the global economic disaster that it engineered by choosing to go to war with Iran, the United States on Thursday was forced to “temporarily” lift its oil sanctions against Russia for 30 days to try to bring the soaring price of oil under control….

[U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott] Bessent told Sky News there was “absolutely not” a price that would be too high to continue the war. No amount would cause him to tell Trump to pull the plug because it was costing too much, he said.

What is it costing the American taxpayer now? Reuters reported that the first six days cost at least $11.3bn. Do the math. That’s nearly 2 billion a day to wreck the world economy and destroy innumerable innocent lives.

Centcom Confirms Death of All Six Crew Members on KC-135 That Went Down in Iraq, What We Know

U.S. military says crash not caused by ‘hostile fire’ even as Iran-backed group claims responsibility.

Six crew members were killed when a U.S. refuelling tanker crashed in Iraq, U.S. Central Command has confirmed.

Centcom reported that a KC-135 Stratotanker came down Thursday during Operation Epic Fury - the growing conflict between the U.S. and Iran that was launched by President Donald Trump at the end of February.

The military said on Friday afternoon that all six crew members on board the plane were killed in the incident. They have not been named.

At least 13 U.S. service members have now been killed since the war started two weeks ago, while around 140 have been wounded….

Centcom stressed in its initial statement on Thursday the plane did not go down as a result of either hostile or friendly fire…

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an umbrella group of armed factions backed by Iran, meanwhile claimed responsibility for downing the aircraft.

The group said in a statement it had shot down the aircraft “in defence of our country’s sovereignty and airspace”, contradicting the U.S. version of events….

This is the fourth U.S. manned aircraft lost since Operation Epic Fury started…

Veggietales!

If you grew up as a Christian kid, like I did, that show was fantastic. It still is!

The Veggietales franchise was insanely popular, for good reason - for its clever use of early 3D animation technology to tell engaging, kid-friendly stories with practical lessons.

So, I was reminded of this when my little sister asked, “What’s Veggietales?” .. and, of course, I HAD to show her a Veggietales movie over dinner.

As I watched it with her, I was reminded that Jonah: A Veggietales Movie is notorious for having one of the most incredible musical gospel numbers known to man. If you don’t believe me, look it up! God is the God of Second Chances! 🕺🕺🎶

After movie night was over, I remembered there’s a true story behind it. That story can be found in the Bible! Oddly enough, the only part about it that I remembered from my childhood was… Jonah was sad about a plant. For some reason. So, I read it over again.

(If you haven’t seen it for yourself, you should. It’s only two chapters, but I’m already on my way to spoil the ending.)

Anyway, after I was done reading it, I realized: if the Ninevites truly repented, then wouldn’t they have seen Jonah as some sort of icon for their salvation, because of their undereducation? Perhaps, they left something for him there, in thanks for the deliverance of God’s word. So, I went and did a little digging on the internet.

Does Nineveh even exist? It did, once - and there’s a museum about its history in Mosul, Iraq! And, my hunch was right! They built a statue in Jonah’s honor!

I was so excited to see how yet another piece of historical evidence could prove the Bible’s accuracy! Since recent archaeological findings have pointed out that there was, in fact, an earthquake at Jesus’ crucifixion, my latest internet rabbit-holes have kind of been circling around in the direction of the truth.

But I was shocked to find out that some artifacts in the museum of Nineveh were willfully destroyed with sledgehammers in 2015. Gone are hand-carved artifacts that pointed to world history, that are literally thousands of years old.. priceless, even by the standards of modern human history…

The statue in tribute to Jonah, son of Amittai, was smashed in that attack, as well as several other statues in the shape of bulls, and other things that the Ninevites once worshiped, over three millenia ago.

… and they were destroyed by ISIS? Meaning, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria? But - why?

One person who supported their destruction said this: “These ruins that are behind me, they are idols and statues that people in the past used to worship instead of Allah.”

I grew up hearing news of Islam, of ISIS and Hamas, and of their first prophet’s horrific crimes against a young girl named Aisha bint Abu Bakr. I was warned of their great evils, and the destruction and deception preceding their acts of unholy war and terrorism. All performed in the name of their god, Allah.

That is why a great horror sank into my bones when I read that it was their extremism that would display such violence toward Ninevite history.. a history that was, undeniably, best left alone. If those artifacts still existed today, the modern-day people of Mosul would not have experienced the grief of losing such integral parts of their heritage.

My heart tore in two when I dug deeper, and read of the fate of the Yazidi people at the hands of these same ISIS extremists. I couldn’t bear to continue after reading the case of a young girl known as Reda, who was purchased and enslaved by Taha al-Jumailly..

After seeing such despair, I turned back to the Bible for hope. For I believe the Lord is an ever-present help in times of trouble. He delivered Jonah from death by the heat of the desert and the depths of the sea - surely He can save me, by speaking life through His Word.

And so, I was reminded by my Lord and Savior, the One True God, the one who raised His Son from the dead, and who delivered Jonah from the belly of a great whale after hearing his cry of salvation from within it:

A house divided against itself cannot stand.

And our God will not be mocked.
