I just have a fr question. what is the freaking reason we have to get up so early for school. rn it’s seriously 5 am in the morning. I just wanted to stay in bed longer ): I mean girl it’s still dark outside let me sleep ): like I am currently doing an internship at a kitchen and bathroom designer. but we have this special day at school to talk about the internship, grades and everything. and that’s fine. BUT WHY SO EARLY
I did the first two shifts in the ER, we saw some real emergencies (like heart attacks and epileptic seizures), last night at the end of the shift I felt like Samira at the end of the first season (with adrenaline at a thousand and the desire to extend the shift)

Changes to this blog, It will only be for VCDM 491 (unless I need to change this again, standby) So previous posts will not be available.
It’s been hard lately with both of my elderly parents getting sick and my work schedule of 7-3, and picking up my brother from work at 9pm, AND my job got robbed, took everything out the safe. That made opening hard today. But like my fave RHOP Stacey Rush says “Still I rise”.
Internship stuff starts here: But the good. long awaited news. I have a meeting with head costume designers for my internship this Sunday at 2 pm. During this meeting, I hope my duties will be clarified and I can get a location for the shoot. I know its in Baltimore, until then I will be reading and annotating the script on my ipad. I need to find a small hands free bag to carry it in so I can easily retrieve my notes. Maybe a mini backpack?
I have a new blog to clog up tumblr servers. Who needs water anyway?

I have a new blog to document my internship journey. I have to transfer everything over so it will be out of order. This week I also received a new task that was a little different from the layout work I had been doing. I was asked to create a preset filter in Adobe Lightroom that could be used on photos to help them fit the overall newspaper aesthetic. The goal was to create a consistent look that would work well across different images while still maintaining a professional and editorial feel.

I spent some time looking at examples of newspaper photography and exploring how lighting, contrast, and color tones are typically adjusted for print-style visuals. I also looked for inspiration and tutorials to better understand how to build a preset that could be reused across multiple photos.
Creating a preset was interesting because it required me to think not just about one photo, but about how the same adjustments might work across many different images.
I’ll include the YouTube video that helped inspire my process below.
One thing I’m learning quickly about working on larger projects with a team is how fast priorities can change.
I started working on an article design highlighting recent CIAA basketball moments. I focused on creating a layout that captured the energy of the games while still keeping the design clear and engaging for readers. It was exciting to think about how typography, images, and composition could help tell the story of the games visually.
While we originally started focusing on basketball highlights, our attention soon shifted toward creating content for Women’s History Month. Because the team works collectively and responds to current themes, the direction of our work had to adjust.

Having flexibility is an important part of working in a collaborative environment. Not every project follows the exact path you expect, and learning to adapt is part of the process.
Do you work well in fast-paced creative environments?
I still can’t believe I’m having to write a whole ass CV just to apply for an apprenticeship near home, look at the size of our fucking village!
I know this is the only scroll crafting business here, but come on, how competitive could an apprenticeship be in this place!?
My internship coordinator just bought a chatgpt subscription and told me to use it ‘as much as possible’.
…does this mean he doesn’t trust my skills? Or???
UNCW Athletics has been a very fun experience and I’m very happy with my choice of accepting the offer. At this point of the semester I have worked Women’s Basketball, Men’s Baseball, and Women’s Softball. Leading up to my first scheduled day, I was a bit nervous and reached out to Riley to see if I could just come in and shadow a game or two. Making that decision made me ready for the internship and I was able to go into my first games confidently. So far I have only been on the camera (Haven’t done Graphics or Replay yet), and truly that’s what I wanna do. Anything that involves a camera, peaks my interest. My favorite sport to video has been men’s baseball. During my first two Baseball games, I worked on First Base Cam and was directly next to the UNCW dugout, which was awesome. When UNCW faced Duke I was on Third Base Cam which was practically in their dugout which was also awesome.
To maximize what I get out of this internship, I’ve developed a strategy. All of the games air on a streaming service called “FloSports”. The membership is 20$ a month and I have subscribed to it. After each game I work, I record the shots that I did and liked the most. My plan with this is, by the end of the semester I will have a reel of the best shots I got for UNCW Athletics and be able to add it to my resume. So far I have some pretty cool shots and angles and I will be excited to see what it all looks like when it comes together at the end of the semester.
The last thing I love about working at the sporting events is the free food at concession stands. Hot Dogs, Chick-fil-a, popcorn, soda, you name it…Free for working the games. Overall, I have been enjoying the internship very much and I believe with the experience Im gaining and the footage Im gathering, that im setting this up to be something of great value in the future.

I GOT AN INTERNSHIP YAYAYAYAY But I have to work alongside taking my usual classes in uni 💔💔💔

First week of my internship at Uppsala University Library is completed!
Taking the train from Stockholm to Uppsala every morning isn’t as bad as I thought it would be, and it’s the perfect opportunity for me to catch up on reading now that I don’t have to study as much. I’ve been with the department for learning and research support this week, which means I’ve been able to shadow various librarians during lectures and workshops, but I’ve also gotten to see the library’s archives and where they repair books, and next week I will switch departments and will get to see even MORE of how everything works.
I took a little trip around the city center after I was done yesterday, which included a visit to the cathedral and a museum (Gustavianum, where I got in for free since I’m associated with the university!), as well as a quick stop into a couple of bookshops, as the annual book sale started last week. I didn’t buy anything though, since I’m technically on a book buying ban.
The weather’s been gray, the snow is mostly gone, but I feel it in my bones that spring is just around the corner now 🌻
Throughout this past month I have learned a lot of skills in my time at Cinespace. I have gotten a lot more hands on experience with a variety of different types of equipment and even gotten to work on repairing and maintaining different types of wires. We spent a large portion of this month working within the warehouse and flipping ground tables. To keep things simple, we had to replace the connections for 50 ft XLR cables. The female and male cables needed to be flipped. We had to take apart the cables and rewire them. I am not the most handy person admittedly, so this was a major learning experience for me. I have gotten a lot more experience in becoming better at the mechanical elements of G&E though in my time in Cinespace. I’m eager to keep learning and developing my skills as the internship goes on.
One of my favorite experiences at my time with CInespace so far happened this month as well. For the first time in my film career, I got to see a real film set in the flesh. We had to go onto one of the sound stages for a few moments to drop off some equipment and I got to look in on one of the sets. I do not want to disclose too many details of the actual production to avoid spoilers, but it was definitely a very amazing experience. I only got to be on the stage for a few minutes, but I was very impressed with how elaborate the set was. I am definitely hoping to get more opportunities to peak my head onto the sound stage, because it was just so awesome to be on a production of that scale, even if it was incredibly brief and when they were not in operation. Overall I am very excited for the experiences that Cinespace holds for me in the future and I am very grateful for the experience.

This last month at Honey Head has been full of pre production. I have been answering emails and reading so many scripts. I have also learned more about script breakdowns and how to budget for a short film. I have attained so much with being able to be acting producer and work together to create an amazing campaign video for a client.
I have also been able to work more with sound on set. Having an active role and working closely with others has really challenged me in figuring out how I want to be as a producer. There are still many more challenges and hurdles, but I am so excited for the rest of the semester.
