Part 9. of Something Else! ™
Grogu laughed to himself as he and R5 trundled down the path to Nevarro City. R5 was the ultimate arbiter of risk and since the astro-mech put up no resistance to following Grogu’s plan, the risk profile must have been as close to zero as it was possible to be.
Of course, that wasn’t great either. Grogu expected there to be some risk. If it was zero then he likely had made a mistake and this wouldn’t work at all. R5 liked it when that sort of thing happened. Fewer parts change outs when a plan just didn’t get off the ground at all.
But, if Grogu was right, they would discover who took the original package and they might just find out where it was. While knowing why people did what they did mattered in the long run, in the short term, knowing where the package was made it that much easier to retrieve and for the party to continue as planned.
And that made Grogu consider his dad’s thoughts on the whole mess. Who knew about the plan? Just the kids he’d invited and their parents because Grogu expected that they needed permission to go to the cabin. They weren’t exactly on main street Nevarro City (which didn’t have a main street anyway, it had a First street and a Second street and a … you understand). But would any of the parents want to spoil the event? At the risk of making a Mandalorian annoyed with them? Only one of the other kids had a Mandalorian parent and Grogu had only met them once. The girl, Penny, was nice, but her dad belonged to clan Purdin, which Grogu had never heard of, but then he hadn’t actually heard of or read about every Mandalorian clan either. Purdin was possible, right?
At least they were getting closer to solving the problem. That was a good thing.

Part 8 of Something Else! ™
Part 8.
With his dad hovering over his shoulder like a Mandalorian Shriek Hawk, Grogu placed the new order and added the necessary details. He hoped his trap would work. He really didn’t want to cancel the party and he also didn’t want to hold it without having something else special for the group to enjoy. Grogu wondered while they waited for the order to process if it was his imagination that made it feel like his helmet wearing Mandalorian dad was literally breathing down his neck or if it was just his Jedi senses telling him that’s what Din Djarin would have been doing without a helmet on. Either way it was annoying.
“Okay, Buddy. They’ve sent the order to the shipping company. What next?”
Grogu described what he wanted his dad and R5 to do. The Mandalorian would stay at the cabin while R5 transported Grogu to the halfway point between the cabin and Nevarro City. They would watch for the delivery person from higher ground and let the bounty hunter know when the delivery person went by them on their small cart. Then Grogu and R5 would follow them from a safe distance and see if they went off the expected path. If they did, they’d follow and let the Mandalorian know to meet them. If not, Din Djarin would just have to be his charming self and keep the delivery person there until Grogu arrived with R5.
“Why the halfway point? We should have ordered it just outside the shipping company’s location. Then we could follow the whole path.”
Grogu sighed. He touched some of the controls on his dad’s vambrace and a projection of Nevarro City and environs flashed into existence. Their cabin was in a good, scenic, private location. Almost no one lived between them and Nevarro City. Almost no one…
“Got it. Good thinking. Let’s get you and R5 on your way. Don’t take any risks…”
Grogu was already trotting out of the cabin when his dad was giving him that advice. It was a silly thing to say to a Jedi-Mandalorian. His whole life was filled with risk. It was like saying ‘don’t breathe’. Grogu not going to listen to that advice either.

Part 7 of Something Else! ™
“Grogu, I don’t think we should jump to any conclusions. We need to do our research first.”
Din ‘I’ve got a gut feel about this’ Djarin doesn’t want to jump to conclusions? Did Grogu just leave his galaxy and enter some sort of multi-verse? He explained his thoughts again. Slower and with pauses to help his dad follow along.
“Okay. You want to interview the person… the kid… who didn’t fail to deliver your last package because?”
Grogu sighed. He thought it would be obvious to his dad. There weren’t that many people who delivered packages from Nevarro City. They both knew one who did and that person had sworn they wouldn’t come back because of the whole no tipping thing. Maybe they knew who ended being assigned the packages they would no longer deliver… or had decided to see what was being delivered and decided they could have some fun at the Mandalorian’s expense. That seemed pretty obvious to him. He signed the rest of the information to his dad while also chirping and grumbling to emphasize certain points.
“You think that kid knows who did this? Fine. But just because they might know who it is that doesn’t mean they’ll tell me.”
Grogu sighed again, again. He explained.
“Oh, you think they’ll tell you because you’re so lovable? Hmmm… that might just work. You can blame it all on me and build some trust with them and hopefully they’ll blab. But how do propose to find them?”
Grogu hoped his dad would like this idea. It was a risk, but he thought it was worthy. He quickly outlined his plan.
“You want to order another surprise package and get extra fast delivery and promise them a big tip? Who do you think we’re dealing with here? Gamorreans or Hutts?”
“Imps!”
After all, Gamorreans were too smart to make a Mandalorian angry, and no Hutt wanted to deal with Din Djarin again. That left Imp remnants and Grogu liked those odds.
“Fine. Let’s do it.”
