quick sketch of another weird hypermobile body part of mine

Daniel Balavoine in process.
As a French baby, there was no lullabies in the house, there was Brel, Gainsbourg and mainly this man, Daniel Balavoine. My dad has always been a fan, since he was a child, and I naturally grew up to love his music, lyrics and the person he was. Balavoine often made his music political, he was the voice of the youth in the 80s. He used his time on TV to talk about things he cared about: he was openly anti war and anti racism. He passed in an helicopter crash in Mali where he was helping to bring and install water pumps when he was 33 years, in 1986. My dad very often recalls the time he heard of his passing when he was 15 and still talks about it to this day. Since the moment I started drawing, 12 years ago, he has asked me for a portrait of Balavoine and I always refused. I knew how much my dad adored him and it was a lot of pressure. In a few days, my dad will turn 55. 40 years since Daniel Balavoine has passed. I decided I was ready to try and tackle this project. Hope I’ll do it justice.

A gift I made for my friend.
On a personal note life’s been pretty good lately, been following my heart more and I’ve been receiving so much in return. I feel very humbled and thankful. I hope to continue to serve and give as much as I can into everything I do
